I didn't have any problems with harpies, dark magic girls or whatever the fuck they had in Seasons 0-GX-5D, after that it was a shitshow in comparison. -New type gets introduced. It comes with a tribal gimmick. One deck meant for this gimmick.
-In core sets following the debut the new type will get lots of random crap support to give it bulk.
-This continues for around 1-1.5 years into the new product cycle.
-Release new type deck 2, this deck will actually not be like the original gimmick and will act different.
-Release power generics for the new type.
-Eventually after some time return to the original gimmick but curated to some degree.

This was the case for Psychic, Wyrms, Cyberse and now Illusions. Psychic was a small feature of 5D's meant to have a noticeable role but was completely sidelined, early psychic best usage was just a synchro engine. Wyrm was completely skipped over in the anime of its debut and had instead just a lore narrative purpose. Cyberse were the whole focus of its anime. Illusions had no anime at all and yet somehow is the best release of a new type as a deck strategy among all of them.

This is true also for Galaxy in Rush. The extra deck original types kinda had this too, with newer support being better designed for the decks meant to play them instead of just existing but they really shouldn't count for this example.

You would not want to draw multiples of those. Half require your normal summon and one of them shuffles your whole board back into the deck. And none bridge into the others. Depends on if you play Terahertz or not. Playing Terahertz you usually put up 2-mat Apo+Terahertz with some Malice links and a Terahertz send in the grave. With a Malice trap up you can bring back your Malice links for followup and further disruption. Without Terahertz you end on a co-linked Firewall Dragon instead of the Terahertz stuff. It's fairly low to the ground but the deck is hard to interrupt, can draw a lot, and generates a lot of followup. And you're still eating pretty layered interruption. Even if you interrupt the Malice player they can end on just a Hearts Crypter which is still a non-targeting banish.
