GoW series is like a mountain really: climbing from 1 to 3 and then falling from 3 to Ragnarok

It was pretty but mechanically it was extremely stale and it came out after God of War 3 so the reduction of scale, story intensity, and weapon diversity was a real step back. It was fine, but felt like the series limping along without a direction or a future.

it was an interquel released after the concluding entry in a franchise, that always strikes people with a strong sense of soullessness.
>why does this story matter? why are you focusing on this one specific window of time when the series is already over?
a prequel released after the franchise has concluded often has the same issues but at least that has the possibility of recontexualizing the entire series. an interquel feels completely pointless and redundant.

Cause while it was good, it wasn't as good as 3, so at the time people thought "if its not better than 3 why bother". Still, its leagues better than any nu-gow we must be le better man + cringe mcu quips.

Because they fucked up the combat because of the multiplayer. Someone at SM though it was a good idea to do a multiplayer combat game and just copy paste it to single player.

Why don't lock 90% of moves behind a meter that depletes with time or enemy hits? Oh and make every enemy attack all the time even when there are 20 on screen, that would be fun.

It was also filled with bugs and generally unpolished. The best part was the beginning with the 500 arm dude, the rest is trash.

Also this, they had to accommodate for mp making it suck ass. A 1v1 system just doesn't work against tons of enemies and huge bosses. They even removed extra weapons ffs.

all i remember they introduced secondary weapons you can pick up and discard which made no fucking sense because why on earth would you use some weak ass axe when you have the blades of chaos
