Consoles are dying. I have an S23U with a Backbone One and have a huge library of PSP, 3DS, GBA, and PS2 roms. I also have a PC for Steam.
I don't need any of the OG hardware, controllers, cables and mess. I don't need a Deck or any other handheld.
Two devices and I have access to pretty much every game out there.
Plus with my S23U I can literally stream game pass cloud games to my Samsung Smart TV
Yeah, consoles are dying. I give them 4 maybe 10 more years before they're gone for good

I don't see mobile as just gacha shit. I see it as a platform. A flexible platform. I can literally stream my PS5 to my phone with a Backbone One too.
I mean already - setting gacha aside:

>Can stream to your TV
>Can connect a ton of Bluetooth console controllers

As phones get more and more powerful I can actually see some devs start to sip their toes in water if mobile. Blizzard did it with Diablo Immortal.

A touch screen can only really replace a mouse comfortably for me, and even then, only in some games.

Phones are not capable of running normal games because their input methods are pure shit. You're limited to menus and spreadsheet games or carrying a controller around with you (lol).

I like game design and balance where the devs don't remove or rework things at will. I recall there being a simple term for it, additive design or something? Pokemon used to be big on it, if you remember the era of the GBA and DS games. Now gacha is where I can see it.

Desktop has seen no real tech advancement while mobile devices are tiny and are beginning to compete with so called high end hardware on desktop
