The controversy over "game key cards" is the stupidest shit ever. Every game these days has patches and updates anyway. And what kind of cardboard box are you living out of if you can't connect your Switch to the internet?

Its a developers first solution with no thought to the consumer in the deal.
Developers dont want to pay for storage in game carts because they cant or wont optimize for shit. With every game being over 64gbs, they pass on the storage costs to you.

Anonymous No.717068424 >>717068729

To further the convo as to why they wont optimize for shit, ill explain.
They make these games 100gb plus to take up space to take up your time. To monopolize your time. You wont uninstall it because it took too long to install it. This is in hopes you keep their game locked and loaded to pay all the time. Your switch becomes a call of duty machine. Nothing more.

So these game carts are for nintendo to court these developers, making the cost lower to get their games on the shelf, and theyre made where nintendo doesnt challange developers making their games 100gb plus. Developers get all your space, nintendo gets you to buy their console. Thats it. Its a win win for them, not for you.

That's not the main problem they complain about the key cartridges even if it's indeed a legitimate concern, but PS4 and PS5 physicals do pretty much the thing by installing the entire game data into the main storage so the Internet outrage shouldn't be that much of a thing. No, it's about how they imagine the download servers will be suddenly going down despite they have no problem buying digital shit on Steam, PSN or the Eshop itself and that none of the past purchases have been ever revoked. ''Pure'' physical releases where you don't download anything whatsoever (be a patch or DLCs) are very rare now, digital is pretty much the future right now whatever these people like it or not.

Yeah, cuz youre not a normie.
Its for the unsuspecting consumer.
If more people were like you or me, we wouldnt be in this mess. Voting with our wallets can only go so far. Tyranny of thr majority as our founding fathers have said. Hopefully the trend dies soon and developers start to optimize, but it will likely be left to smaller developers to do so.

Because it's a retarded solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
If the game cards let you play the game without the card in and maybe had to be re-checked once every once in awhile that'd be fine, but you have a physical object gatekeeping access to digital content this way at all times.

The appeal of physical copies beyond ownership is the fact that you don't need to download an entire game and have it taking up space. Game Key Cards are the worst aspects of physical and digital rolled into one format.

>The appeal of physical copies beyond ownership is the fact that you don't need to download an entire game and have it taking up space
But Playstation 4 & 5 physical releases do the same difference by installing the entire game into the main storage (while downloading all the updates in the process)
You also have to be extremely braindead to parrot the "Game Key Cards are the worst aspects of physical and digital rolled into one format" line like a NPC while being oblivious of the fact you can rent or sell those things since they aren't bound to any account. Much like the "You own nothing" over digital games, that meme is stupid as well.

Minecraft Vita can work "fine" on 1.00 version for example but you still miss out all the added items/packs and all the bug fixes.
Same with Soul Sacrifice Delta adding pacts and new archfiends in later updates while the cartridge is released in an early version.
1.00 version can work for plenty of games but that's nowhere the optimal experience

they just wait for the right moment.

them shutting down purchases doesn't make any sense already, but shows that they are going to shut it down, otherwise they would allow you to buy games on older platforms. There is zero reason to not do that.
Just put these games up on the web store, which already exists.

https://www.lawinsider.com/dictionary/reasonably-foreseeable-future

Reasonably foreseeable future means a time frame that may be beyond the immediate or imminent, but not longer than a time frame as to which reasonably certain judgments about a person's likely behavior can be reached.

TL;DR we can shut it down at any time we want to.
Anonymous No.717072321
I buy physical because I want permanence. Patches or not, if I buy a physical game, in 99% of cases I do not need any online connection to make it run. I value that, as these consoles often lose their online services within less than two decades. I already cannot buy new 3DS games on the eShop and I'm unsure if I can even still redownload the digital ones I did buy.

Game Key Cards do not offer permanence as they are still reliant on an active online service.

The only value of the Game Key Card is that it can be resold like a physical game and it has a physical presence . I don't buy physical for either of those things. I buy physical for the above-described permanence. Now that 90% of digital third party Switch games are game key cards, I simply do not have a suitable option for how I'd like to buy those games.
