I always found it odd how the people who are supposedly most concerned with perpetuating humanity (wanting high birth rates, caring about legacy, etc.) are the least concerned with the environment. "Left" and "Right" are just tribal affiliations at this point and signify what kind of people you enjoy being around. There's no undergirding logic or principles to either side for most people. There's no intrinsic reason conservatism should be incompatible with environmentalism - a lot of conservative thought in the 19th and early 20th century was anti-industrial and pro-environmentalist. But big corporations shilled the Republican Party and now it's a major part of the conservative "identity". Similarly, there used to be a strong pro-life contingent on the left that is now dead.
