Parrying is only particularly good during the first act, and even then everything there can be beaten without parrying. Act 1 needs some dodging, which isn't as hard to time as parrying, but after that you can beat everything without touching your dodge, parry or jump buttons. AoE healing and good character builds will carry you harder than learning to parry.

Im still somewhere around 30something lvl, so my guess is that these dudes know how to use pictos and passive luminas to their full extent. Knowing magic synergies with luna can lead you to huge damage outputs as well

I am a long term final fantasy games. The best way to describe this game is a mix between FFX, Dark Souls, NieR with French aesthetics. It's clear that the developer has a handful of heavy inspirations and the main character (not the one you start with) is literally just Clive from FF16. The best thing about the game in my opinion is the heavy focus on the parry mechanic. Actually, without the parry mechanic this game would be nowhere near as good. It adds a huge fun-factor. There is also a lot of Japanese inspired humour in this, which works well. In terms of faults, there are some bugs and the dialogue does get lame at times, especially when you are doing the optional friendship stuff. The mystery is also dragged out and the music is choppy at times ( i haven't actually finished it yet but i feel like the Clive character is holding stuff back from the other characters just to drag it out artificially). And I think the lack of a mini-map is actually a fault because the maps are pretty convoluted at times.

The Asian chick is alright but she has le quirky dark mage thing going on which feels forced. The young sister character is always miserable but she's cute. The other chick is just straight up ugly and annoying. Weird choice with the main character(s). The blue mage and the chocobo character are fucking GOAT though.

You can expect it to be just as a final fantasy story, good and bad. Good in the sense that it can be just as emotionally engaging, bad in the sense that it can be just as equally confusing in some parts (and lacking some explanations). Unless you're expecting it to be like FFXIV story, which imo is the good without the bad for the most part.

You can equip 3 pictos, from which you get some kind of a stat (health ,defense, speed or crit chance) and some kind of a bonus. Once you win 4 fights with an equipped picto, you can use it as lumina - you don't get the stat anymore, you just get the bonus. These are shareable between all characters. You can stack every offensive picto and do millions of damage. Combine that with buffs, maxed weapons, attributes matching weapon scaling and you will one shot literally everything.
