In the case of trapping abilities, the reason why it gets banned is because you cannot play around it. If Mega Gengar, or Dugtrio, or Wobbufett are placed on the field, you just die. At best you attempt a switch move but come on, you know for a fact they're going first. And it's not like a crit where if happens sometimes if you're un/lucky, you're fucked the moment they touch the board. So you have 2 options
1. Every single team needs to be loaded with either flying types, ghost types, or switch moves to avoid being vaporized by trap pokemon
2. Just ban the trap pokemon
