That's the fun part, it's cheap because everything is ASIC.
Right now our GPUs are basically just running a bunch of programs so you use a shitload more transistors for each of these operations when it's even possible.
The IDCT engine i described for example is probably not possible.

Also it is a rip off of a PS1 component.
