People played it when they got tired of Diablo back in the day. I never heard bad things about the first game, only good really. Heard the series overall was very solid but never anyone's first choice, everyone found it after getting burnt out on other similar games.

What's the general consensus on this game right now? Because to me, it felt like absolute dogshit with awful performance.

I'm not sure what that means. What I'm saying is the whole thing feels like generic asset flip (wtf is up with those male character models) with actions that lack any impact and sometimes even fail to produce sound effects. There's also a very fugly outline around enemies and environmental objects you can't turn off or reduce.

After reading other posts about it, apparently it lacks any meaningful content, even worse than PoE2 which is selling for around the same price point. The only thing that looked polished to me were the menus.

I requested a refund after like 20 minutes. It's like some Alpha prototype that someone quickly assembled and shat out as a shameless cashgrab using the name of an established IP for fans of the genre.

God, how I wish that was true. D2 clones were all abysmal failures to the highest degree. Titan Quest was big because it was the first D2 clone that wasn't ass. This was followed by Torchlight and eventuelly PoE, which actually managed to by a good clone and improve on the formula (especially endgame) before partially shitting the bed due to in-game shop. The D2 genre was considered cursed for a long while because simply copy+pasting the FotM didn't work like it did for so many others.

TQ and later GD managed to become D2 clones with their own unqiue formula that isn't bad, although many into the genre don't like it.
