they added diagonal roads to the game that didn't need it
retarded if you ask me

That UI doesn't look good.

Im not sold on the setting personally. 1800 was a great setting that offered a perfect sense of progression. What could Roman times do by comparison?

Also land combat and research tree doesn't do it for me

One of the very few games Im looking forward to. Ive never played the series, so Im excited to try it. I’ll have the history of rome podcast on loop while playing.

Ive also never purposefully played one of these types evilly/retardedly, so I want to cause and crush a slave revolt if its possible

they should have set it in ancient greece
ancient rome is gay

Ironic they finally introduce diagonal roads in a game about the Romans, who's urban planning was grid-based.

Ancient Greece is quite literally a gayer Rome

I bet all you will need is the base game and that small mod that unlocks all the expansions, cannot remember what it's called but i did it for 1800 back in the day.

Maybe. But Denuvo introduced a DLC protection in 2022, so it's not a given

I just uninstalled Anno 1701. The campaign's difficulty is straight up bullshit.

The UI is a mess, probably the biggest complaint I have after playing the closed beta. Otherwise I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah that would have been a much more fitting addition to 1800. Now we're stuck 90 degree railway turns.

I've played 1602 and to a lesser extent 1503 the most, this new one's trailer didn't interest me since it's just more of the modern formula with a less appealing artstyle

So it doesn't just look like shit. I really hope they change the UI. How is it compared to the GOATs of the series (1404 and 1800)?

Yeah. Finished the campaign. Tried a couple of scenarios from the expansion but I've quit playing some months ago.

True, but at least the Greeks were open about it. Romans did the same shit then turned around and made laws about "dignitas" like they weren’t having toga parties with teenage boys. Whole damn empire was powered by hypocrisy and olive oil.

An Anno game set in Japan? That's an interesting thought. There aren't many games with a far-eastern setting that focus on navy of all things.
Anonymous No.717095468
I never really liked Anno. I wish they would make a good Tropico sequel instead.

There's mod for Anno 1800 that adds a "not-Japan" session , apparently it's great, haven't tested it yet though.

Nah, tried 18xx something and felt very watered down/lacking in something's. Very much reminds me what awoved does where the game looks high fidelity but then everything inside the game is a test to see how many corners they can cut and how much money they can save and people would still eat it. Like some parts obviously had effort put into them but rthen some are obviously 'cut' because they are not as in your face, very sad to see

Yah know i open up Anno games to 'relax' but a couple of hours im gritting my teeth setting up production chains and maximizing service building coverages.
I walk out of it more agitated than when i started. Fucking germans and their idea of fun.

Can't say I really am, the last one was a positive surprise after Ubisoft not knowing where to take the franchise for like two entries, but dunno. I kinda feel like I've played all the settings I could have ever liked, and I've played every game in the franchise growing up minus 1503. Rome to me just really isn't the type of setting I'm very interested in.

Anno 2070 and Anno 2205 are pretty good, with the latter being mediocre at best.
And i'm tired of pretending otherwise.
