why is owning so important? I can easily sell my steam account right now if someone wanted to buy it from me and the ToS would not be able to stop me so for all intents and purposes I own that account
>>717088560 have you never sold an account before? how do you manage to give out your personal info with that? do you respond honestly when asked for your birthday or something
>>717088864 well that sounds like not my problem as far as I know the only reason to ever want to "own" an account is to be able to resell it for a profit so once you've sold it to some sucker and it gets banned, how would that affect you personally?
>>717088970 >well that sounds like not my problem It is your problem unless the guy you sold it to is the biggest pushover who even't do something as basic as a chargeback.
>>717089045 I could ask for crypto payment, which cannot be chargebacked or I could live in europe where chargebacks are not given without reason, and paypal disputes are not automatically resolved for the buyer
>>717088108 (OP) steam NEEDS to take 30% of the entire PC revenue

>>717089379 or you could try actually selling accounts and realise that steam doesn't just willy nilly ban accounts suspected of being sold despite what it says on the tos and that people have devised multiple methods to prevent problems with chargebacks and people recovering accounts after selling
>>717089601 >Dude you can just steal stuff from a store, people have devised multiple methods to get away with it Great but I rather have legal ownership of the stuff I bought for with legal tender.
>>717089742 No one's going to respect a guy with a rented super yacht.
They're all going to laugh at you at the next billionaires child rape party.

>>717089950 my point is that just because the store says "you don't own anything you buy from here" doesn't mean it's gonna prevent me from doing what I'm legally allowed to do do you let a non legally binding tos dictate your life?
>>717089161 >sell AND give away. You can only buy games for other users, not gift them the ones already in your library.

>>717090347 I've worked in a law firm dealing with small claims court claims when someone gets sued because they failed to pay a 5000% interest rate payday loan, the judge usually just throws the case out just because you signed a contract doesn't mean you are obligated to fulfill it especially if the clauses are extremely abusive like in the case of digital goods ownership eulas
How come everyone is against renting games and are for ownership EXCEPT steam cucks?

>>717090590 But it's the opposite here. You don't get sued, you need to sue.
If Valve bans your account, you can't just go to the police to report a theft. You need to hire a lawyer which will cost you more than the account is worth.
