DK64 is better than Bananza.

I don't know why NIntendo of 2025 cannot make a game better and more content packed than Rare of 1999.

Some of the things I thought were cool about this game like the different powers and the mini-games are pure dogshit in retrospect.
The first level, Jungle Japes, is one of the worst and shittiest platforming levels ever made. The Aztec one after it is frustrating and shitty too.
The characters control like shit and can't jump and most platforming sections are short and designed to piss you off so you have to try again and again to get them right.

It's really a dogshit game. I can't believe there was part of me that thought it was cool and innovative.

Explain to me why they couldn’t have at least had Funky, Candy, Lanky, Chunky, Tiny, and Kiddie as NPCs in Bananza. Make a DK Isle level for postgame and plop them all in there. How hard is this.

The other levels suck. Other than the busy work that forces you to change characters, the levels are hollow as shit. When there is platforming to be done, it's a pain in the ass.

>>717097607
They actually were though. Loads of people at Rare had the philosophy that they were making games for kids that might only get a new game every few months or even once a year, so they'd specifically make their games really long. So that's why Blast Corps has so much post-game stuff, or why Jet Force Gemini is the way it is.

Reducing the Tag Barrel backtracking saves a ton of downtime, but your enjoyment of DK64 deoends on your tolerance for old-school collectathon platformers. The missions are never as complex or "adventure-gamey" as anything in Banjo-Tooie, but it's more like an amped-up Banjo-Kazooie with WAY more side-attractions and mini-games.

I love how people hate Bananza DK because "not serious not adult not hardcore like Rare DK" and willfully ignore all of the silly shit Rare DK did like the Tex Avery wild takes with eyeball popping, his goofy voice and quips in 64, and his voice in 90% of his games that people have spent years hating and were ecstatic when Sakurai replaced them with monster growls and roars in Smash. Even in Jungle Beat he had a bunch of silly expressions and his "Ooo-HOOOOOO-hoo!" cartoony voice.
