It used to be an average TPS with some cooldown abilities for characters. Now it's becoming more ability based and some new characters don't even fire their guns. Newest Anniversary character goes back to shooting, but the gameplay has become pretty stale after 2 years. Trash mobs pretty much melt and add no challenge, and bosses are glorified training dummies that offer next to no challenge. Rolling for new characters is pretty much to buy skins and fap to, because most content can be cleared without the latest OP. On one hand, it's nice that powercreep is really only affecting the game's weekly boss rush mode, but the rewards for placing high on that is laughable so who cares. On the other hand, the game is just plain boring, the devs keep adding bullshit game mods that are rip-offs of other games (Fall Guys, Palworld, Plants vs Zombies, Helldivers). They add lewd features (healing center massage game, hot spring game, drinking game for the new bar area) and then never update those modes again for new ops. The fanservice has pretty much eclipsed all other game content. The story is harem love thing where the main character will marry all the girls. I don't mind the harem, but the writing is just not good, and the CN fanbase is so rabid that an event from last year pretty much eradicated all male presence in the game besides of main character for fear of cuck NTR stuff a la Girls Frontline. I find the whole thing laughable, because having a harem with no other male presence kind of defeats the whole harem concept. Snowbreak is a game where I would say the pendulum shifted too hard towards fanservice, and why there needs to be a middle ground. Otherwise, it turns into what the game is currently: a waifu gacha to buy skins to fap to and then repeat because every time they release a new version of a character, skins for older versions of said character are not usable for it.

GFL2 gameplay at launch was a pretty good x-com clone but unfortunately it's gone massively downhill and they've power-creeped the game into a literal autobattler.
The newest human rights-tier power creep character is LITERALLY a full-screen aoe that happens turn 0 before the map even starts, and with enough dupes she literally just one shots the whole stage. And this was """"needed""" as power creep because the previous meta character could already solo entire stages by herself.
also they just paywalled interaction with characters in the dorm behind $200 gacha skins so there's current drama around that but if you're f2p its irrelevant

the core gameplay with the shooter has gone stale and there really isn't anything seaslug has been doing other than using minigames

the detail/effects on the models are fine but compared to glf2, gfl2 gets autistic with rendering foods. One thing i do peeved on is that gfl2 actually has more petite models than snowbreak. if you're into it

the nita patch gave me the closure I needed to finally move on from the game. I had already been pretty checked out for the last couple updates at the time, but I stuck around because I wanted 5* nita. then she finally got her patch and it was more than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams.
Now I'm pretty much done with the game. Don't get me wrong, I love all the characters, but nita was my girl, and I got my happy ending with her.
It's kind of ruined other gachashit for me though since no matter how I might like my current main gacha, it doesn't have nita, or even a nita-like character.

The story honestly isn't anything to write home about. There's are a few standout chapters, and memorable moments, but you play snowbreak for the girls. Each girl has a distinct personality and for the most part the characterization is great for all of them.

Different from multiplayer gameplay loops of usual PvP multiplayers(30-60 mins) and way different from a Saturday evening of regular titles like claire obscure or god of war. Most gachas are a mix of VN(visual novel) elements, so expect a lot of reading, listening and "imagination"


but above all, due its very casual-appealing gameplay for most gachas usually preference so its waifu > meta
