I like them both.

You can beat Void Stranger in less than 5 minutes if you know what you're doing. You can "beat" Blue Prince in 20 minutes if you get lucky.

Void Stranger respects your time a lot more than BP

Yes. There's a big difference between a game that is willfully malicious and time wasting and leaves you with nothing to show for it, and one that heavily rewards the time investment.

>I want to try x in Blue Prince
>Do several runs, hoping the rng comes together to even allow you to try
>I want to do try in Void Stranger
>Plan a direct path to said goal using shortcuts and UI manipulation to get there in a few minutes

Blue prince would be an easy 10/10 if the rng was more manipulatable

I played the game with max stars so I could re-roll every room until I got the one I wanted, and it was still total dogshit.

The problem isn't the RNG. The problem is that the game isn't very good and half the puzzles go nowhere.

Void Stranger has zero RNG and has so many shortcuts it's not even funny. The puzzles all actually need thought.
Blue Prince on the other hand, does not respect your time and the puzzles are all easily solved IF the RNG cooperates.

Can you guys recommend me some good puzzle games that aren't dogshit like blue prince and aren't block pushers like void stanger?

VS isn't a block pusher. If you want a recent fun puzzle game, play Type Help.

It's funny how everyone insists that VS is a sokobon when the primary mechanic is tile switching.

The problem with Blue Prince is there is no payoff. The narrative is held back by the game play. You are the one true heir of the original kingdom. You have noble titles, the royal treasures, the original castle, you have all the soft power and symbology in the world but you can't do anything about it. Its just there and worse is that if you apply any logic to the future you will realize that it wont go anywhere. Other nations wont help him because his claim also applies to them. The Red Guard are already tailing him and he inadvertently gave them access to the secrets of the house. His family is dead or scattered. He will be trapped in a guided cage with no real power because the second he does anything he will be disappeared. The game literally wastes your time with its own narrative.

i've been playing void stranger blind this past month
i've figured out a lot of shit, and only have a few loose ends left to follow
but shit, the last few puzzles are throwing me for a loop. the only thread i can think to pull on at the moment is to work out cif's puzzle. everything else seems to dead end into a partial or full reset
Anonymous No.717113160
Blue Prince does waste your time but there's nothing wrong with just playing it for a while and quitting when it turns into a chore. It's great up until then and doesn't stop being great just because you don't unlock very bullshit thing.

The reason the lack of narrative payoff is so frustrating is because the game is so good. Play it for the puzzles just keep in mind the secrets go nowhere so the moment you feel like you are grinding out secrets just for the secrets stop playing.

I've started playing zeroranger lately, and I haven't really run into any secrets like in VS. This was a rather large aspect of VS, does ZR just not really have much like that? I'm enjoying it either way, just curious.

It's a fairly atypical experience by shmup standards, but for gameplay purposes you'll see most (all?) things the game has to offer by 1ccing both modes. If you're a lorefag there's plenty of dots to connect with Void Stranger.
