Why are people scared about Silent Hill getting a remake?
The Silent Hill 2 remake was great. Not a replacement, but a really good side-grade which is more than enough to ask for.

The only thing I'm scared about is Silent Hill not being as good as SH2. Why do you think they skipped the first game?

I absolutely LOVED the new endings. for them alone it's worth it. it doesn't even try to replace the OG, it works best WITH the OG

I also liked Maria, but after what happens, and both the name of the achievement suggest that it's not a happy ending. Maybe Maria coughed because she had a cold. The very first ending I got was Maria.

the maria ending is basically a loop ending. james doesn't learn a thing and is doomed to repeat everything with maria getting ill and killing her again.

I actually liked maria in the remake. in the OG she is too much of a cheap hooker, whereas in the remake she is much closer to mary, but healthy and flirtier.
the only bad thing in the remake is the too much combat, but after gettingn the chainsaw in NG+ that's not an issue anymore, fortunately

Yeah, I played the OG. I played it on PS3 because I never had a PS2. I wasn't a fan of the original Maria beyond her being a woman. I actually cared about the remake Maria. I installed a mod that shows every single trigger for the Maria ending and I did them like side quests. One of them actually asks you to let her get grabbed until she takes damage, and then you have to save her or it's game over. That's what MariaReceivedDamage is.

I always thought it was because they weren't certain about its reception so they chose the standalone Silent Hill game.
Like, if they started with SH1 and it flopped, tons of people would still be pressuring for SH3.
SH2 is safer.

Because some of us are old enough to have played SH1 when it dropped, and know the horrors Jewnami has done to the IP the past TWENTY YEARS.

SH2 demake was a prime example of all the things true fans are afraid of.

No. It was just another SH: Homocoming x TLOU x RE4R style clusterfuck, on top of being also UE5 slop AND woke-trash "backed" by Sweet baby inc.

It rapes the gameplay, the cinematography, the atmosphere, the writing, the pacing, the replay value... EVERYTHING.
And yes, in the eyes of the masses, this IS a replacement for the OG. Because it is the ONLY "version" of SH2 you can even legally purchase in the year 2025.

It's a downgrade, and nobody asked for this shit. Not the fans, nor the OG devs, who LITERALLY spoke against it on their social medias for years.
