The wibbly-wobbly of Dark Souls 2 being designed to counter every tactic players used in Dark Souls, then for Dark Souls 3 they do the exact opposite and cater to the fans who want only AotA-style bosses and non-stop rolling, was one hell of an experience.
But yeah once they started building games based on player feedback and the whims of the masses, the series became doomed.

That's mostly DS3 and ER though, BB was mostly designed to discourage turtling behind a shield (which was how most people played the series back then, before newbies memed themselves into trying to roll through everything), and I don't think anyone was expecting something like Sekiro or AC6.

Does it count when a series recovers the game after and then goes to shit again?
Because gen 4 was the epitome of what's bad about modern pokemon
Railroading
Performance issues
Less content than the previous game
Designs that don't fit the aesthetic
And it even has its own unique issues like rehashing RSE's plot but this time with gods of the universe jumping the shark and elevating pokemon from animals with powers to the literal godkind of the series.
Then there's the fact that it ruined secret bases and contests to the point where GF just culled them from the series outside of remakes because the gen 4 versions were so hated.

Simpsons is not that funny even in the first 10 seasons, it's just relevant to the cultural zeitgeist and was unique, in a time where there was no competition. A lot of the writers were Hollywood rejects that nowadays would be considered hacks, with Simpsons being American slop.

Important? Yes.
Good? Not that good.

KotHs humor is much better outside the context of it's zeitgeist and time period.

Unpopular opinion but I think the series never went bad, just never reached the heights of the early seasons. There are some episodes which defy logic in how bad they are but those are oddities rather than an entire season with nothing salvageable.

I saw an episode where Shearer sounded really off but it was just that one episode. The next one he was already back to normal. No idea what happened there.
Kavner is just unfortunate though. 30 years of having to voice a character with a particularly raspy voice. I imagine the VA's literally can't be replaced unless they purposely choose to leave.

How did you even get to that when one of the anons wasn't talking about the general opinion?
Anyway no, one is saying he thinks Simpsons was never good the other is saying Simpsons isn't truly bad.
Removing opinions they both basically said the whole series has had a fairly consistent level of quality.

Yeah, absolutely where I dropped off. I hear people bailing because of LSP, Bee (sounds like a writing clusterfuck) and canon lesbians (don't personally give a shit) and some general character obliteration of Finn, but I'd say here was a hard enough wall for me to just leave.

the writers became rich and started appealing to the celebrities that they brought in

Mass Effect 2, as soon as the Council hand waved away everything that happened in Mass Effect 1 and also Shepard being forced to work with Cerberus. The story only went downhill from there. You could tell that the incompetent hack writers in charge of 2 had no intention of permitting any meaningful player choice while they strung you along their railroaded "your choice matters" story, which wasn't even competently written regardless. And then ME3 had the most disappointing end to a series I've ever played. It's like they stripped everything unique out of ME1's story and tone in some design-by-committee purge in an effort to make ME2/3 more "mainstream."

I think they've actually been avoiding doing homer x marge marriage problems for a while. A lot of them just have them actually enjoy each other's company which is refreshing if nothing else. A lot of episodes focusing on Moe for some reason. I guess after Apu got the boot they decided to have Moe be the next non-family character to be more developed.

The hate for Principle and the Pauper is overblown. It's still full of good lines and gags, and people take the Skinner lore change way too seriously when the whole point of the episode is to take the concept of sitcoms restoring the status quo after a big proto-clickbaity retcon and take said resolution to an intentional extreme. Outside of a couple cheeky "Tamzarian" namedrops way later on, it's never brought up again and never part of Skinner's character again.

This is so fucking bullshit and untrue.
Dark Souls 2 was them completely surrendering to the "just roll through everything lol" playstyle. They made i-frames a fucking stat for you to pump. They didn't bother with accurate hitboxes because they expecting you to roll through everything. They abandoned level design in favor of straight hallways with occasional tough enemies. Meaningful boss runs were removed.

The revisionist history around Dark Souls 2 is one of the most unreal things I've ever lived through when it comes to games.

Part of the problem is that it required Homer and even the setting to be even dumber than ever. Like, why the fuck is there a window between the canteen and a workspace where acids are used?
And why was there acid there anyway? I don't know anything about nuclear reactors but I don't feel like acid would be used anywhere that wouldn't be highly irradiated.

They made iframes a stat to tax the players level up and stop the game actually being an RPG where the player could actually diversify and find different tactics. It also doubles up with retarded mechanics like soul memory that disincentivize the player doing anything but mashing their face on a boss until they win.
Dark Souls 2 is completely and fundamentally designed around rollsouls and is inarguably when the series went to shit.
