I enjoyed it for what it was, for the brief time I played it. If you like particular characters from the game it'll give you plenty of opportunities, to interact, nothing really in depth just little scenes of them talking to you and being cute. I think my ideal mobile pokemon game would be somewhere between this and pokemon go, but that's another discussion entirely. I stopped playing after the Valentine's Day event with Marnie, I recognized the game would one day destroy me and fled. You have been warned.

All the characters feel so fake and artificial in the way they act even just compared to the mainline games. It's supposed to be about the trainers but most of what I experienced is just repeating surface level information and rarely unveils things we didn't already know. I also can't think of a single story event that I finished that made me think it was good. Granted I dropped the game over 2 years ago so maybe it's gotten better.

Pokemon Masters fucking sucks. They just spam the same characters over and over and it has no content for most characters, not even popular ones. Cynthia spam unironically is helping in killing it.

I’ve played the game since launch and enjoy it overall. I’ve even spent a little money on it, but there are definitely some gripes I have.
>lots of reused assets and content
>arc suit units are the most expensive to get
>most modern units require a lot of investment in order to be good
>some modes like Champion Stadium and Legendary Arena feel abandoned (when will they add Hassel so we can have Paldea CS already?)
>some characters that should have been added already aren’t (Striaton Trio was in the game’s release trailer and they still aren’t in baka)
>many Lodge trainers are stuck to limited sync pairs
>lower gem counts nowadays and rallies that gave many useful rewards aren’t really a thing any more

Despite all that though, it’s still more fun than most other official Pokemon games for me nowadays.

I played consistently every day from launch up to about a month and a half ago. I liked Masters a lot and a lot of aspects about it, but as time went on and the game’s scope became more clear I started to become pretty disinterested with it. Every attempt at adding a new mode or wrinkle to the gameplay cycle has been pretty disinteresting at best or just goading you into rolling current banners at worst. The academy mode was kind of cool conceptually but ended up feeling really underbaked. New units don’t really feel exciting other than being a new slot to fill in an already existing strategy that does better damage/compresses a preexisting role better/whatever. I loved a lot of what the game had to offer, seeing some of the protags get more proper resemblances of personalities and character was fantastic, the unique outfit designs were pretty much always stellar, and the OCs made for the game are unironically some of my favorite characters in the franchise (Lear especially.) But things have been too stagnant with no real meaningful content/mode shakeup. Trainer Lodge is nice flavor but just a glorified daily mission. Rally is… fine. I liked the cumulative strength gain and trying to optimize how many medals I could get but it also became a chore. I’m just not too sure what else they could do. PvP? Modes with teams of 5 or 6 instead of 3? Proper raids? The last thing the game did that surprised me in a positive way was the photo mode which I had a ton of fun with.

I think my time with the game is just done. I’ll still prob log in if my faves get new alts (Lucas, Bianca, etc) or if they add Cogita or something. Otherwise I feel like what made the game special in 2019 has just kind of faded. TPCI pays attention to these characters way more now in marketing, so it doesn’t feel like the only place you get to see them. Still, I’ll always remember the old CSMM challenges that some anon held on /vp/ or running Brycen in vs Giovanni coop. Good times.
