I really wanted to like it. I love the NASA futurism aesthetic. But I just can't larp in the world because I can't get over how much I hate the characters and lore. It's a very frustrating game because it could have been amazing.

I didn't think Starfield was a bad game. The main story was stupid. I liked the rest. Flying around your custom ship, visiting all the procgen planets was comfy imo.

The reason for that is because you're used to dealing with chaotic, beyond the norm characters as you would as expect from a fantasy world from TES, or a post apocalyptic world like Fallout. Characters from Starfield however are mostly what you'd come to expect when dealing with people brought up in a 1st world society who haven't turned crazy from getting fucked in the ass by the government too hard. Basically if you can't stand the average person irl (especially those in the middle class or higher), you definitely wouldn't be able to stand most of the characters in Starfield.

Sometimes I see people criticize Starfield for the NASApunk aesthetic or its lack of sentient aliens, and that frustrates me. I loved the idea for the aesthetic and the commitment to not having any space Khajiit or whatever. The game wasn't bad because of those ideas. It was bad because BGS failed to execute in virtually every category.

Unironically, that's a clean, eye catching menu. It's when you go deeper in the menus and see how fucking retarded the interface is (among other visual and gameplay issues the game has) that you see the cracks/canyons.
