I think they had multiple writers on this game and the writers didn't communicate at all with each other. Because earlier in Peter's flashback JJJ tells Peter he'll wait for him until he finishes his coffee and then he's gone.
When Peter does arrive late you can see a finished coffee cup on the desk and JJJ is still waiting for him anyway.

There's one thing I've learned: if/v/ is talking about a game, whether for good or ill, it's usually worth trying out. This Spiderman game? Gonna try it out. Veilguard? I tried it, was summarily impressed by the level design. HD-2D games? I've enjoyed the art style and the games (Octopath and Triangle Strategy). BG3 - ruined all other CRPGs for me. If /v/ isn't talking about a game, then I generally ignore unless it's a genre y'all aren't generally into (I love me some city builders but tonight was the first city builder thread I've seen in ages).
