I can believe it. The next Tales of remaster was one of the seemingly obvious reveals, Bamco even said it would be announced during summer. There's also the Red Dead Redemption 2 port to match the PS5 and XSX getting current gen upgrades. That's not mentioning other previously leaked games like Tekken 8 or the lack of release dates for games already announced, like Elden Ring, Metroid and FFVIIR.
The real question is what the fuck was the point in even having a partner showcase like that? Is Nintendo delusional enough to expect Drag x Drive and Kirby DLC to push sales for the rest of the year? They're lucky that people really fucking want the hardware, because if the job was up to the marketing department it would have flopped badly.

We got two Directs in Spring instead of the usual zero.
Summer Directs have actually been very spotty since the end of E3. It just is not that good of a schedule slot given that the Summer is an off season for releases. E3 press conferences were accoutrements to the show floor whose purpose was to sell commercial orders of holiday games to retailers. Now that physical games are gone, that reason for industry events in the early Summer no longer exists.
September is a better period for selling DIRECTLY to customers and has thus been their most consistent window.
