This game has been one of the most pleasant narrative experiences I have had in a game in years.

>>717137119 (OP)>Don't be a retard Harry! What did he mean by this?
>thought Revachol getting nuked was going to be a big part of the book

>>717140168you're a cop who got so drunk and high he forgot that and everything else in the week he's supposed to have been investigating a murder, and then the game is you pretending to be a cop from there.
>>717140168it's communist propaganda disguised as a game
>>717140168its a very well written rpg, dont listen to retards calling it commie propaganda. its a game that makes fun of literally all major ideologies in various ways
>>717140839But communism is depicted as a noble failure whereas fascism and capitalism are depicted as jokes.
>>717141225You have to be a special kind of retard to not consider fascism, an ideology grounded in explicit encouragement of violence and war as "cleansing the nation" to not be a complete joke of a political system.
>>717141293It's no more of a joke than communism.
>>717140839>too retarded to recognize obvious propaganda as propaganda>calls others retardsmany such cases!
>>717141225Communism's followers are depicted as naive at best and violently extremist at worst. They only good-hearted communists in the game are the ones too simple minded to realize they're getting played by the union.
The whole communists propaganda aspect really feels played up by the lead devs, alon with people like you who are too busy arguing online to look past the most surface level of the thing they're upset over.
>>717141813Let me guess, you are one of those "homeschooled" kids, right?

>>717141225it is rather described as "noble ideals" that get tainted and the game makes sure to show that.
Hell even Kraz Mazov was portrayed as a fucking tyrant that would often make people disappear

Kraz didn't disappear people, the moralintern did. They tried to disappear his buddy Ignus Nilsen and it was one of their failures.
Chapter 3, non-entity.
>>717140441>>717140839Say one of these fascist or communist things or fuck off.
I played through the game first as a burly empathetic boring cop (with a twinge towards the fascist ideology for the lulz), is insane rockstar book-smart commie cop different enough to warrant another playthrough?

Another cool excerpt about the government disappearing people
>>717140168You are a schizophrenic cop who got so drunk you got amnesia, and have to solve a murder that you should have worked on days ago. However, you can also do a lot of different things around.
Also, the voices in your head are both your own skills and they themselves are technically characters talking to you and between themselves. Some voices offer great advice, others are insane. And then you got shit like Shivers talking about supernatural shit you aren't supposed to know and yet you do.
>>717144443I like how Esprit de Corps is basically useless compared to Shivers but serves the exact same purpose except it's with cops instead
>>717143480the dialogue changes a ton depending on which stats you're leveling since other skills begin to chime in during conversations not to mention a lot of the thoughts you internalize can also unlock different prompts
>>717140168well written, decent plot, you play a failure that drank himself to half death and tries to use his extremist political stances to dodge personal reasonability like beating the homeless because their avant-garde lifestyle is truly inherent commie bullshit wrapped in a fascist sandwich with a side of centrist faggotry and you're quite literally saving the city- no the world, by beating them half to death. that classic "can you spare a dollar" dogwhistle was their tell, idiots showed their true face, the mask slipped and you; the super cop, caught it before it shattered on the floor, shoving it down their throat much like their capitalist bosses would do to each other in the golden ivory towers backdrop clearly seen from this cardboard box camp.
>>717143858reading this again now and man I really did read the whole thing backwards. Guess this is what happens when you read books at work
>>717142075>communists>the unionretard
>>717145250At least you read it. Most people who try to argue book lore go by vague things they've read people say several threads ago.
>>717145515Anyways thanks for the correction, brรถther. I'll check the other translation when I get some free time. Have a good one
>>717140168They don't It's Tranny communist propaganda.

>>717140024This feels like reading a Whomp comic. One of Ronnie's internal dialogues.
>>717140441left wing economic policy is better then corporate cock sucking sorry lolbert pedo
>>717149152Everything ends, doesn't mean it wasn't good while it happened.
Also, that's not necessarily canon. The only canon thing is that Revachol gets nuked, and that's because Shivers refers to it in a check.
The book has enough inconsistencies that it might as well be a different canon. For example, Revachol wasn't a part of the antecentennial revolution in the book, Dolores Dei wasn't nearly as relevant and the next Innocence was already prominent in the fifties.
>>717148969yes
>Cool for: High-Strung Investigators, Shoot-Now-Ask-Questions-Later Cops, Surprise Haters>Half Light is your fight-or-flight response. It enables you to sense the way situations are about to turn. It injects palpable fear into your heart โ fear that urges you act before itโs too late to act ever again; fear that makes you frighten others. It is the aggression that lets you squeeze every last drop of information out of a witness.

Ching Chong Chang really couldn't make it any less subtle if he tried. Great narrative dev xirs.
>>717149768Yeah, its pacing is awful. It took me months to finish it, because there wasn't enough hooks or intrique to drive me forwards. I had to force myself thru it.

>>717149776>FUCK YOU, AGREE WITH ME OR YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO CONTINUE THE GAME.You don't have to agree with Kim to continue the game. You can side with the other guy.
>>717140024>Are women bourgeoisWell, women are often greatly relishing in the production, and the work, of the male proletariat. Ever time a woman is given a pension, every time she screeches at random stuff while living like queens on the back of the proletariat, yes, women are bourgeois. Or bourgeois adjacent.
>>717149776>If you become a communist YOU'LL MURDER AND GENOCIDE LITERALLY ALL OF HUMANITY, YOU FUCKING MONSTERAnon: this game is communist propaganda
>>717140441People try to pretend the devs didn't wear red and hail Marx at an award ceremony once
>>717141293You just described how communism works
>>717151102The devs can resurrect Marx and suck the shit out of his ass for all I care, what matters is the content of the game.

The worst nightmares have settled down for a while. A spot of light on the bedroom door after the dark. The fluttering of eyelids in the spring sun. A thought that arises, only to disappear again. And yet there's a pattern emerging...>What if you didn't lose your memory? What if something in Martinaise came and stored it all away. For you to slowly open one box at a time. So you can *choose* which parts to keep. Keep almost none of it. Only the flowers on the windowsill. Only the distant sound of a radio. Lose all the actors, the dark shadows, leave only the still lifes, the blissful distant wash of waves. If everybody knew -- you never did. She'll be coming soon. That's all.kino...

>>717142818Half Light is the one on top, Volition is the one on the bottom.
>>717154116Good on you for being honest, anon. That's rare. Just chill though. It's a work of fiction and a bit of a weird one at that. People have other shit going on and may misremember things, though with a book like that I think it's really is open to interpretation what did happen.
AFAIK, this was supposed to be book 1/3 or so, but the author never got to writing the other ones, which is why it ended as abruptly as it did.
>>717149152I donโt give a fuck what happens in the book, and I donโt consider it canon. Anyway, my man Tequila Sunset isnโt going to be alive in 27 years, and after Harry, the deluge.
>>717154483With Mesurehead? Lmao
>>717154324I'm not being "honest", I'm being sarcastic. That point is utterly relevant to the discussion.

>>717154575Pretty sure you were just using a metaphor there. I get it, all good.
>>717154776If you don't think there's a difference between assuming a huge plot point for a book is a metaphor and using a hyperbole in an imageboard to say someone is wrong I can't help you.
>>717154634Only if you tell me about the kind green ape.
>>717154891Interpretation only misaligns when the hinge between inference and intent rotates past the angle of implicit recursion. If you had read the book, as you are claiming, you'd know that to be true.
>>717153558It's cold and everyone drinks heavily because it's a shit existence.
>>717154994So what do you think the author meant by the Pale consuming matter, then?
When he wrote about it destroying a forest right before the cast's eyes?
>>717155127I don't remember enough to have a strong opinion, but the Pale felt a lot like it was a metaphor (at least to some degree) for people forgetting and getting apathetic. I think it's pretty obvious, considering that the last survivor is a hedonist.
>>717155502That doesn't answer my question. How does that fit into text saying that the pale is consuming matter?
Why do people have to evacuate entire countries because of apathy if the landmass is just fine?

>>717157070Tbf this """villain""" is also about communism, Revachol is very obviously a mirror of soviet republics post-USSR fall and the deserter's nostalgic hate and his love for the revolution are the same as the ones some people hold for USSR and the October revolution. The game is all about letting go of past and moving forward and rebuilding, but this idea is expressed in numerous ways and not only historically and politically.
>>717158219I mean who gives a shit about Britain at this point

The nose has a lot of blood vessels.
If you drink chronically, the vessels get "remodeled" in a way that they will stay dilated most of the time.
This means they have chronically more blood supplied.
This makes the nose red.
(There are a bit more details but this is the general mechanism.)
