As long as I can't miss out on it long term. You can argue that you'll miss stuff in DR but it letting you replay chapters and the chapters being only a few hours in length along with the changes in (at least chapter 2) being pretty huge makes it worthwhile.

However missable shit like some of the rando collectables in FF9 are not okay

I'm talking about Snowgrave in chapter 2 specifically for why that's fine since you can just replay the chapter and it changes a lot in that chapter (though less so in 3+4). Personally I believe the meme / theory that it's going to hard end in chapter 5 and the real route will keep going after that so it's fine since it'll probably only make you replay 4 chapters max of which 2 will probably be pretty different (2+5).
