That's not Aerith in the ending of the game post her being killed (except during the "white space" part).
Watch the credits and check what scenes are missing with huge "spaces" for where they SHOULD be.
Think of some of those parts as "from Cloud's pov"

This could make sense, but Red XIII also senses Aerith. I'm not saying Cloud isn't going schizo, it's clear he is. But I think that was actually Aerith talking to him from the lifespring. He's more fucked up than in the original and she's probably trying to help him cope but it'll blow up in the end. The whole "no promises at the end" text gives me the impression Cloud doesn't make it this time.

It doesn't deserve the hate. The gameplay is good when you get used to it and the story follows the same beats as the OG for the most part. Done killing himself should've stayed in, without a doubt, but I knew cloud beating aerith wasn't going to make it in. At least they made it suspenseful and creepy. The end fights are also pretty good and making you use your whole team feels like how it should be. I wish the weapons looked cooler though. If emerald and ruby look like the ones shown I will be pretty fucking disappointed, but honestly not surprised.
