Anyone else already really tired of these chinese soulslikes largely because of the setting?

Idk, it feels really boring and... soulless? I'm already exhausted of this setting after playing these for 10 hours total combined and it feels like we dont need another one of these in the next 50 years since its already way too many. Like none of the lore or designs matter since its all just some chingchong.

I guess I never realized how important the kino European fantasy element is to creating an action RPG thats actually engaging and makes you curious.

And apparently theres like 3 more on the way coming out this year, all the same chink shit setting, ehh.

Asians make good media but only when they're borrowing from Europe.
Dark Souls is 99% European buildings, weapons, armors, with like 1 or 2 pity katanas thrown in.

That's cool, but I was talking more about the West as in the Western Hemisphere than the Wild West.
I was thinking more like how the Vatican has an army ready to execute Protestants in Hellsing. Too batshit insane for an actual Western person to make, but that sense of "otherness" kind of makes it work.

I’m actually really sick of European fantasy settings. Omg, an orc! An elf! Is that a hecking dragon?! Games like Sekiro and Wukong are a breath of fresh air for me. Probably since I’m reminded of the PS2 era when we used to get stuff like Onimusha and Dynasty Warriors. Ironically, medieval European settings are only interesting to me when you remove the fantasy bits. I really liked how grounded and gritty Kingdom Come Deliverance was. But the notTolkien shit bores me to tears. To each their own.

It’s because western devs these days just cram “diversity” and ugly manfaced women into European fantasy settings. I’d rather they just not make them at all if they’re going to cram their agenda into it. From Software has been a Godsend for still having kino medieval Europe settings without all the pozzed shit (though it’s still shows up from time to time, From just isn’t in your face with it.)

I'm enjoying the setting of Wuchang, just beat Honglan yesterday, but I haven't played the other two yet, so no fatigue yet. I'll also probably play something totally different after this game, like a turn-based RPG. That approach has been very effective in preventing fatigue with games in general.

A Kingdom Come style game with some “low fantasy” elements would be pretty kino. I guess the Witcher is probably the closest thing to that, but the third game really cranked up the high fantasy elements. The wild hunt were such shit villains. The game should have just been about Geralt and the witches in the swamp.

EA released one called Wild Hearts and it was better than all of these games.

It's China trying to gain soft power and spread Chinese culture. They could do what Korea does and just pump out some mishmash of European themes in a really sloppy way (like the upcoming Crimson Desert, for example), but that would defeat the purpose of spreading Chinese culture like wuxia and xianxia. In any case, they're just making souls games because its the ultimate normie worshipped game formula of all time, and they are simply hijacking it for sociopolitical purposes.

Firstly, video games are by far the absolute worst media vector for spreading propaganda due to their inherent nature. Secondly, the particular era of Chinese history that Wuchang is based off of is a time of such grossly inhumane practices that only a genuinely demented individual would consider it to be an appealing period piece of convincing gweilos of Chinese superiority.
