The culture war over the costumes and jiggle physics made a bunch of people mad on both ends of the spectrum, with some either claiming 1/10 or 10/10 because of fucking character design alone.
Story being a subpar imitation of Nier(a high art game classic or something according to reviewers) made some others pretty mad.
At the end of the day it's a fun parryslop with solid exploration while the story is standard video game placeholder to string the game together. It's simply a good game.

Great Desert really isn't a good area. Same biome as the last open world segment, most of the same enemies as the last segment, it's too big for the amount of content and most importantly, you get ambushed at every single pickup and after taking 4 steps in any direction. Oh and for some reason the area has a bunch of obstacles like walls, quicksand and invisible walls. It all comes together to make it very tedious, especially when you're being completionist.
