PSO2 has always been unmarketable in the west, and reason for that has always been Sega's incompetence not because the west is that different from the Japanese players

Sega gets people hyped for a global release only to fuck up badly they alledgingly lost the global IP rights to a Chinese company when they made the SEA asia version

SEGA Pussy foots about being the game over now that they sorted out said IP issue, Believing that no one in the west would still be interested, even though they kept getting spammed constantly about it by them, and Pso2 was reaching his peak potential in terms of drawing in new players from jp, no matter how many times they released to a new console. They instead chose to rebrand with things like Ep4 and onwards.

SEGA FINALLY decides to bring the game over now that Ep6 basically corrected the course of ep5 and to the absolute surprise of no one but SEGA, The game has appeal to the global audiences and all that shit about westerns not liking it was bullshit. Maybe they learned and can use NGS to start of and do pso2 but better.
2021-2025

Basically the issue with NGS now is that they once again put themselves into a spot where they can no longer appeal the game to westerns to warrant advertising it overseas, and this is because NGS has literally no direction at all being put into it. Jp has the same problem but, it's easier to do merch runs and set up local venues to grift the Jp base, Global however requires actual televised and internet ads to draw in new players, but they're is absolutely nothing to market it on. There's no compelling story, there's no variety of content or activities, the making of a good mmo or mmo-lite are all right fucking there, they had success before with PSO2 on BOTH sides. Yet for some reason they choose to do nothing but the bare minimum with this game
