A lot of the press channels for BF related news keep talking about how the matchmaking works, which is what also comes out of the official channels from dice, it dominates the talk for official press statements. The best way to find a good good match? by your preferences in the server you pick. The best way to find a game is in how you connect to it manually. Not how the game 'finds' it for you.

The fact that the audience looks excited about the game should tell you everything you need to know about the previous installments. They basically wanted BF3 with a new coat of paint, not whatever those horror shows from 2018 up until recently were.
Battlefield used to be the realistic fps shooter while CoD was an arcadey shooter so if they return to what made BF great, it's a free win considering what a clown show CoD has become.

I've seen videos and the guns are all lasers. Guy's 50m away and you full auto with an SMG and every shot hits because there's no recoil and no spread. I guess some people like that though. Gunplay short version, to me didn't feel satisfying. It just felt like more full auto spam while doing as many movement mechanics as possible and more hipfire use or it favored that over control and accuracy. Felt more like COD or Delta Force in a sense than any Battlefield game at least for firing the weapons and aiming down sights. Especially with ADS times being more variable and slower. No idea if the sniper rifles one shotting to the body or the chest at range ( greater than 80 or 100 meters ) is intentional but I haven't been able to test yet if it has a limit meaning I don't know if it's the sweet spot or it continues that 100% damage to infinitely. Either way the headshot should be the only one shot to the body for snipers and I hope I'm not being overly paranoid that it has something to do with some other game mode interfering with the base game...
Tap-firing with automatic weapons seemed more like a hinderance than full auto spam. Recoil can be negated by just cranking the FOV like in previous Battlefield games so I'm not sure what their plan is.

It's a little premature to say that BF6 has answered all our prayers. Those who prefer how that game plays and dislike any changes seen in BF6 will go to Warsaw. BF4 will never have the numbers of the current BF games, but all we need is enough numbers to keep a real community alive. Unfortunately I don't think we'll ever see more nuanced gunplay in Battlefield ever again. Every popular shooter is going down the full auto laser beam route when it comes to weapons. Say what you will about spread and stuff from BF3 and 4 but at least back then it felt like you actually had to learn each weapon a bit - burst and tap fire was a thing you had to learn and be disciplined about. Not every game needs to have crazy milsim recoil but I feel all shooters are going too far down the other direction nowadays.

looks like there's still no balance between inf/vehicles, helos and jets. worse even, helos and jets seem still stuck in that bf3/4 low skill ceiling meta.
apparently the cobra maneuver shown in the trailer is a scripted single player scene.

So I think what is happening here is that there's a strong commercial driver to genre-shift games which were really successful.

This is because they basically con everyone who liked the first game, and also reach "new" audiences. I think they're driven by investors so are trying to take a low risk, diversified model. Slop games with so many identity politics features and genre grifts they they have to make their money back. Corporate gaming.

Because let's say they try to release bf4 on the new frostbite engine with new maps and some of the balance changes from bfV and a few ARMA features into hard-core. To make an excellent game in a single genre. Well the risk is that the game gets mogged on release by some random ARMA mod or context pack for CoD and BF4 is DOA. Commercial failure.

Burst is way easier, that's why it exists irl. Tap fire burst was originally an exploit pro players used in the earlier games because you got a slightly higher cyclical rate of fire, which is the opposite of what happens irl.
The AN94 had an unconventional burst system, designed to double tap. It was OP, the precursor to the AEK designed essentially so noobs weren't disadvantaged by their inability to tap fire.

If you used either like a chainsaw, you'd just get killed by someone who had a shotgun. This led to server owners banning shotguns. So in protest I used to use 40mm smoke as a shotgun, just to prove the AEK meta players were not actually good at the game.

Burst is harder because it requires a tiny amount of self control. Instead of holding down the button you have to let go. You need to fight your instinct of "kill that guy". Again, not saying it's hard, but if you're a complete idiot casualest of the casuals then it's difficult to do that. If you think portal isn't a server browser you need to be sterilized.
If you think portal doesn't work as a server browser because you can't configure a server filter like you would in every battlefield with a server browser you should be sterilized.
If you complain because you're segregated from the matchmaking pool of players 'which is the majority' I want you to get on caspers drone, or soflam somewhere you can watch the entire battle unfold. Look at how the typical matchmaking player behaves and realize you don't want them on your server, they are not going to cultivate or join your community they just want to play the game.
When they got rid of the conquest 128 option for a week a while back, I made a vanilla 128 conquest server, it filled up, and we played. It's not difficult. If you can't fill up a server it is a personal failing on your part, and the dice lady is going to tell you as much.
Imagine having to make a powerpoint presentation on how to use a server browser in 2025 because of your frothing sub-iq audience

How come the Modern Warfare 2019 animations are still unmatched by any FPS game 6 years later? I'm looking at the animations in the BF6 gameplay and it just looks so janky and cheap compared MW19. It's hard for me to explain. Is it really that difficult to create animations that are that good? BF 2042 animations looked like absolute dogshit as well, but I don't remember BF3 and BF4 having that bad animations for the time. Maybe I'm not remembering that correctly. And if you think OCE servers are uncommon, i play lots of niche online games that have functioning high pop servers in my country. When the playerbase for any game gets too small it becomes hard to find games.
Portal splits the playerbase between people who are playing it and people who are playing non Portal, which means finding games becomes hard more quickly than it would if everyone was playing the same mode. If nobody's playing Portal then it having a server browser doesn't do much.
Not many people played 2042 in Australia, which meant the playerbase was small enough that became hard to find Portal games very rapidly. That'll be less of an issue for 6 since it presumably won't be a flop like 2042, and less of an issue in real countries, but eventually the playerbase will get small enough that it'll become a problem everywhere.

Thomas Andersson who worked on BF games since BF3 looked into their internal data and came to conclusion people will choose their own enjoyment over the needs of their team. I watched some gameplay, it looks like BF4 with women. Now, I can't give you a good philosophically sound argument as to why I don't want them in shooty games, I just don't like it, sorry.
BF4 is good, even if I prefer the feel of 3, so that's spectacular considering the state of gaming.

BUT

if I want to play BF4, I can just play BF4 and it doesn't have wamen and my PC can still run it

Some additional details on #Battlefield6 via dev interviews and comments

▪ The Open Beta features one field training per class, but in the full game there will be two per class.
▪ Apart from Operation Firestorm, DICE plans to add more classic maps later on.
▪ The sweet spot mechanic is back for most of the sniper rifles.
▪ There will be mouse and keyboard support for consoles.
▪ Escalation supports 64 players, and it starts with up to seven capture points. As flags are lost, additional vehicles come in reinforcements.
▪ Not every game mode will be available on all maps.
▪ The bridges on the Brooklyn-based map will be destructible in the campaign but not in multiplayer due to performance reasons.

People just want BC2/BF3/BF4 repackaged so it gets a new coat of paint and all the players can finally come together again rather than straggling between the past five BF games with no player count. Didn't really need innovation, I mean do FPS games even innovate? CoD did omni movement but the game still feels like shit to play compared to the old MW era. What else have they done? Fuck all. BF is just getting more of a CoD makeover since realistically ground combat outside of vehicles is the way most people play. If they try to make another entry with gigantic coverless conquest maps they'll lose out the last of their audience even if the gameplay is great. The point of doing all of this is to get returning players and to grab the CoD audience. So, you introduce goofy movement mechanics, make maps overall smaller, and focus way more on making the ground troop action feel better. Hell, I think I saw engineer class with 4 Javelin shots and 4 RPG shots. Vehicles are going to be hell to upkeep this time around. The ""innovation"" is finally in making it so people aren't just fodder for recons with a whole view of the map and vehicle only fags going 150-0.
