If you just want to get from A to B you don't even need shit anymore. Auto take-off, auto climbing to cruise altitude, auto-cruise, auto-landing etc.

Yes but most of that stuff is situational. You might not need the artificial horizon when flying in good weather, but you do need it when flying at night or when it's cloudy etc. Most instruments and buttons on planes are like that.

Also unironically try War Thunder with mouse aim if you want decent dogfights without a $500 HOTAS setup. Just avoid the Naval stuff unless you're deep into pain.
