i was one until I played I think Red Orchestra or one of those mil sim light shooters and every reload would just throw away the remaining bullets in the mag

Yeah, and games with realistic ammo count fuck me up, I often forget the games still count the rounds left in my mag, so I have to pick up the half-full mag I just dropped on the fucking ground like some sort of ammo cuck, hoping nobody noticed

I like TF2's reloads, where they automatically happen and you can cancel out of them to fire your remaining shots at any time.

I was until Martyr's game. Turns out the fear of potentially fucking up a simple reload sequence outweighs the need for those few bullets.

Insurgency PVE taught me bots are calculative cunts that like to pop out of corners when you're reloading or stuck in an animation pulling out a grenade so no.

Counter strike taught me better
Are there any games with like a magazine management system? You have 3 magazine for this gun, so on the 3rd reload you wouldn't have any fully loaded mags. Now you have to fill them back up with bullets which should take in-game time. If you grab more magazines, then you can freely reload for longer.

I've trained myself to not reload unless I'm below either 10 shots or 75%

Yes, several on the more tacticool (less arcade) side of FPS.
I found this list but can't vouch it's all accurate:

Despite having no negatives to having autoreload on tf2, I prefer playing with the setting off and choosing when to reload. I don't know why, I think it's because the weapon gets in the way of my vision if I keep it on.

Games that force you to lose rounds still in the magazine when you reload get me as hard as a rock.
Why don't all games do this?

the older I get, the less I want to reload. But I will check my mag compulsively 4 times a minute in tarkov

Did try receiver and it's fun. Have yet to collect all tapes in one run but I'm slowly getting there.
