Best play Gothic 2 without the Raven expansion first. When it released people complained the game was too easy so with the expansion they turned the difficulty up so much that it's very unforgiving for newbies and you have to play character progression carefully.

Played through Gothic 1 EE and Othello 2 times each
playing Odyssee right now after that I will play through Achollos again

You basically need to know what you are doing from the start, otherwise you'll be have bad skills ans stats and nearly every enemy will one-shot you

if you compare them than compare G2 with Morrrowind

and G2 hold up much better imo Morrowind had nice water but other than that it's pretty ugly
especially character models

just play archer and dump everything into Dex and bow skill
it's one of the lowest iq play styles I've seen in any videogame, you hold w and left click, the game aims for you and you can just start running if something's actually killing you and shoot them again once they deaggro
