And? So is Starsector and DSP and they are both excellent games already.

It's a boring game, after 5 hours you have seen everything

how is it still like that? you just described my experience with the demo years ago. I figured they would have figured out the balancing and replayability issues in a couple months, yet they're taking two years to still not finish.

Ya that's how early access works. Afaik there's no timelimit nor you get any penalty if the game never finishes. Like no refunds or anything.
It's just gamble really. I don't recommend ever buying early access games. Even in the best scenario that the game gets finished. You're probably bored of it by that point

"Early access" is just "live service" for indies.

The laptop got washed away in a flood and also stolen plz understand we need to add a birdwatching mechanic before we can even think about NPCs.

>build large reservoir with shitwater bypass
>game solved

Getting there is fun, but after that there's nothing to do. They should come up with more challenges instead of expanding the "comfy base builder once you solved the main problem" side of the game.
We need floods, water backing up downstream, earthquakes forming new channels, erosion & more

Shill thread, we know you like it.
Timberborn is quite fun and the last updates have been game changing.
We went from a 2D game where you could only build on top of existing stuff, to a 3D games where arch are now possibles. It change water mechanic significantly as you can now create aqueduct.

Never Kickstart a game, never buy a game in early access, never 'pre-order' a game.

Be honest, it's more difficult than that, you want to recover energy from badwater (instead of diverting it outside the map)
You also need multiple reservoirs in the various area where you have farms.

That said, if there was a rainy weather that don't just increase the flow of water but make water appear aside your reservoir, the game would definitely be more complex.

That's where you start your grand project of making Beever Dam 2.0 creating a fuckhuge reservoir with the capacity for 3 cycles' worth of water or start making aqueducts to terraform the other side of the map or just build all the lategame shit to try and max out happiness. You kind of need to set your own goals in this game.

I do feel like 90% of the tech tree is completely irrelevant in the early stages where it matters most. You're never gonna leverage robots to build your crucial badwater bypass, because by the time you get them you'll have everything sorted out.

Factorio spend more than 4 years in Early access.
But, the last 3-4 years of early access had basically 1 update which added nuclear stuff, and the rest was almost entirely bug fixing for a game that wasn't particularly buggy to begin with and a lot of remaking assets to "look better" like 5 times.

>look at research cost of bots
>look at resource cost of bots
>look at manpower cost of bots
>look at space cost of bots

>just build the dam without the bots
What's the point again? I checked reddit and they just talk about creating a forever holiday utopia with robot servants and that it's a postgame objective. I don't really get why as the only reason to make beavers happy is to make them work harder.

I get that you're speaking within the ruleset of the game here or at least I hope so. but damn, man, listen to yourself. you've turned into a boomer.

You've turned into a redditor.
Happiness is just a number-goes-up mechanic and is the main reason why to play this open ended game. It itself is not particularly rewarding after the first few stat bonuses it gives and the economy to support the next milestone is both complex and needy, leading to the questions "Is it worth it?", "Why am I playing this?" and "Why do I want to increase my population, a lot, for the sake of a few % points?"

The skinnerbox is fun until it gets too hard and protracted between rewards.

You also get to zoom in on the cute little beavers swimming in their lido or sitting around on benches you've put for them in a little park overlooking a monument.
