the fagship doesn't jump until its hull is destroyed
the real problem with wiping out the crew is that it just activates the ship's AI and turns it into essentially a bigger version of the rebel drone ships.

You only get rid of the crew + weapons in the four closed weapon rooms. Helps a lot later as they won't be fixed anymore as long as you leave the rest of the crew alive.

My main problem with FTL is that once you understand the game, a lot of the runs bleed into each other. Ships with a variety of starting differences all end up with 4 lasers, oxygen 2, and max engines.

Multiverse is fantastic and, as long as you can stomach a bit of cringe writing here and there (and one entire ending that is the epitome of cringe), the game has probably a thousand hours of content to chew on (win once with every ship at least is my metric).

One thing I don't get in multiverse is how to crew kill in difficult battles in order to do some quests when so much of the game has absolute aids vs boarding crews so all you invest in them is useless vs shit like ghost ships, AI, lack of oxygen in general etc.

Particularly when you're going for the harder to achieve endings, I got burned out on the mod when I started hunting for the lanius story line.

Spider was better when the Spider A was a 20-man Zerg ship back when you could have both instant teleports and instant clone bay.
You keep a Weaver or 2 on board and then just repeatedly send packs of 4 spiderlings + your matriarch over to swarm the ship to death and then respawn everyone.
Tedious, but incredibly satisfying.
Now, the only big Zerging ship is a reward for unlocking every Crewser. Which is just annoying.

Crew kill is one of those things some ships just can't do reliably. It is indeed kind of aids and a major balance flaw of the mod, especially Crew-killing weapons, which are either amazing or genuine shit.

It will never not be hilarious that the devs just say uhh no your win condition isn't heckin valid because I said so!!! What's that? Your entire build revolves around killing crew? too bad restart!
Except killing the crew is still the meta you just kill everyone but one guy and the ship is neutered and it won't activate the broken AI because there's technically one guy alive still. But that's a heckin valid win condition unlike killing the last guy.

>Ships
Any of them with a little luck on early shops for anti-crew weapons. They fall off as you get further, but they're all good early on. The Corbin is fantastic in Sectors 1 and 2.
Once you get into later Sectors, it's mostly Event Crew weapons, like the Zoltan Deleter.
As for more conventional killing via sending crew over, anyone works as long as you have a teleporter and a cloning bay. Medical bay is only useful for super defensive ships that have access to nano-machines and/or pheremones so you can sprint there as needed.

the flagship is unironically bad game design
He breaks multiple rules established throughout the entire game, he kills build diversity, and he's the only fight in the game that actually matters. You can clean house the rest of the run and then die to him because he's has a checklist you have to fill out just to stand a chance. If you didn't get enough boxes ticked during the run (which is partially RNG dependent if you even see the options you need) then you might as well not even waste the time fighting him

FTL was one of the first games in the whole genre. They didn't even really know what they were going for or what the best design choices would be, because there really weren't any notable prior games to take lessons from. Could they have fixed that in the enhanced edition? Yes. But then it'd be a full-on remake instead of a version created specifically to be ported to other platforms, with some enhancements because they were fucking around in there anyway.
