MS corporate is furious with Xbox for their totally retarded decision to buy all of Acti-Blizz-Zeni-Beth for $70b+ plus more than a year of lawyer fees and, shitty publicity and embarassing leaks detailing just how retarded the Xbox division is. MS corporate, that's Satya Nadella, demanded a quickie remaster to get SOMETHING out the door and making money, so they FORCED Bethesda to hand over the asserts and code to a support studio. They're not actually. Its their golden parachute for when they finally close down the xbox division. They're going to print money off call of duty and candy crush, actually those two properties alone are already printing them money regardless. Too little, too late. Bought and played the Remake

i just don't get the love for Oblivion. i played the remaster because i liked the original and it's honestly good. as good as it was 20 years ago. but skyrim is just straight up better in every way that matters to me. maybe if you really love playing magic casters and want to make use of the spell crafting, okay. but i always play sword/board/heavy armor, stealth archer in leather or barbarian with a 2handed weapon. i never played a magic character and i don't want to. in general, in all games.

I love playing spellcasters, and it's just straight up better in Oblivion than in Skyrim for spellcasting.

I'm hyped for it, because it's Skyrim so you can just port most Skyrim mods to it with relative ease.

if they had kept the spellcrafting and added the smithing/gear upgrade system, melee finishers and stealth kill animations and other melee combat changes from skyrim it would be so good. in oblivion, as soon as you get a piece of gear after level 25, that's it. but in skyrim you can upgrade and craft and do the whole alchemy/enchanting/smithing loop and boost your gear like crazy. in oblivion you can repair it to 125 and that's it.

The only thing I don't like is how clean the Ayleid ruin textures are. That's another thing the remaster got wrong too. I always felt that they intended there to be a stark contrast between the ancient ruins in Tamriel and the pristine memory of them in the dream world.

yeah but i'm not chained to the meta. well not really. i follow my personal class fantasy for the character that i want to play. so when i envision my knight i use a spec and gear that fits the knight. magic and ranged combat is off the table. same goes for me archer, any chainmail armor, shields or two handed weapons are a no-go. and my barbarian doesn't even know what armor is. that sort of thing.

It's going to be better than the original or the remake. The remake will be more 'puritain' if you feel some need to experience the game exactly as it was 20 years ago but Skyblivion will certainly be more enjoyable

Official remaster is a faithful release with some good QoL improvements and improved graphics.
Skyblivion is a reimagining of it by very passionate modders/devs that will inherently have a difference experience than the original but in the spirit of.

Easy to co-exist and be worth playing both.

I will never understand how old fans can play the Oblivion remaster. It looks so... fake. The graphics, the UI, it feels like a mobile game. Like they transplanted TES Blades into Oblivion.
