>still the best vidya experience since the N64 days when I was a kid
I don't know what it is exactly about this game that make it stand out so much from all the indie slop and the triple A bullshit I can't even force myself to play anymore. The game has zero replay value. It just is what it is for 20 hours and then it's gone forever. Maybe it's because it didn't demand anything of me except for my curiosity. The story isn't particularly intriguing either, yet I was really hooked on it while it lasted. It felt like I was actually discovering shit.

I did play it. It has nothing of actual meaning to offer. Except for the whole simulation of a solar system gimmick. It was guerilla shilled to oblivion and falsely put in reference to actual older adventure games that still nobody plays even if they ""adore"" OW.
Basically it's everything that's wrong with the gaming "indie" (it had a million $ marketing budget btw) industry.

Optional, but it's on by default so fair enough. It's to balance out the time limit so you don't waste a loop because you couldn't read fast enough and have to repeat it the next loop.

Saying things are shit and then refusing to elaborate just makes you sound like a retard. I think the game gets a bit too much praise, and if we weren't surrounded by games that constantly insist on holding your hand it wouldn't have hit people the way it did, but it unquestionably is an excellent example of exploration in video games. Handing waving it as a "solar system gimmick" undermines how cleverly the progression system is put together.

I did elaborate on the game being shit. It is precisely what you never do on these threads; actually discuss the game. Instead you just throw these retarded praises and how elated you felt when playing the game. Every single thread for this game is the same shit. You don't discuss anything, not even just gameplay, because there is nothing to discuss, the game shallow as a puddle and it secrets mean nothing and the whole "universe is dying" is so ham-fisted and lame that it only appeals to little kids who only played minecraft and roblox before.

Buddy, the game has a knowledge based progression system that works solely on you experimenting and researching how the unique manchics of each world works. Which are all unique to each planet. It's a fairly unique idea. In a landscape of copypasted focus group approved game design, it was refreshing to be placed in several varied worlds and tasked with understanding how to they work. Adding to that the time limit encourages you to mix the exploration of different areas together, and in doing so you're generally rewarded with information related to other planets you may not have picked up on. I can understand if exploration in games doesn't resonate with you personally, but painting people that do enjoy this particularly good example of the concept as retards makes you come off as being intentionally obtuse.

Give us an example of what you think is a deep game.

People say outer wilds is a deep game because the world doesn't pander to the player, you are at the whims of gravity, and the sun. You're given the responsability to discover clues in any order and figure it out yourself. The ending is open to interpretation and somewhat ambiguous. This is to force you to engage with the subtext, the themes of the game. The themes of the game are consistently reinforced but told in different ways through the stories of the races involved and their interaction with the eye.

Yeah, it felt like stepping back into how vidya felt in my childhood for me too. I think it's mostly down to how completely novel and polished it is -- all AAA shit is boiled down to a precise formula nowadays so the only innovation's with indies, and the trade-off for that is they're all incomplete or choppy. To get something that's both so outside the norm and so well-made is sadly rare.
