Is the phenomenon of Nintendo Adults still a thing? Millennials who grew up with Nintendo, think Miyamoto is god, think Banjo-Kazooie was bigger than it was, think only OoT should even be in contention for the greatest game ever made, defended the Wii’s severe hardware limitations, etc.

It feels like these people were everywhere for a while. I don’t hate Nintendo or anything but these people may have done irreparable damage to the public image of Nintendo fans. I never understood them, but I never understood brand loyalty in general, and I say that as a millennial myself.

it's an overblown rare loud minority that you convince yourself is bigger than it actually is and use every instance of an adult who simply likes nintendo and thinks it's good as confirmation bias by putting them in the same category and inflating your personal perception of the existence of these people

It never left, Nintendo released the demographic chart that said 25-40 are the main age group.

There will never be another Andrew Dobson or MovieBob.

Absolutely; I argue they're the majority of Nintendo fans.

>Every single multiplat game runs like shit on the Switch due to its limited hardware
>Nintendo fans simply blame developers, as if all developers from different companies from different countries like Japan itself, USA and Europe had conspired to give the Switch a bad name
>Unironically talk about Iwata, a Japanese businessman who they never knew personally, like he was their late father
>Unironically use pet names like "Ninty" for a fucking corporation.

There are a lot of webcomics that channel the same kind of fanboyism, pretentiousness and holier-than-u attitude as Dobson but they're pretty much inactive on social media which kills the potential as Dobson's successors.

The older the average nintendo fan gets the more childish the average nintendo game gets

It was a phase. Nintendo had Wii, MS had Kinnect, and Sony had whatever it had. All were scrapped. Has nothing to do with tendies specifically.

Why do you think Nintendo hates them? It makes it exponentially harder for them to make games for both them and their children. Some of their IP's can't even pass the torch down to a new generation of gamers because the fans are so fucking godawful.

I honestly found funny how even Nintendo acknowledges the WiiU was a mistake and still it was pretty hard for the company to convince their diehard fanboys to stop defending and sticking to it so they could embrace the Switch.

Kind of, but not really.
Obviously those same obsessive guys are there, but that's the thing. It's the... same guys. There isn't newblood coming to this.
A lot of Nintendo's consumers are also still adults, but they don't brand their life with Nintendo like how the 2000s had Nintendo adults, Disney adults, Batman adults, Marvel adults, SW adults, etc.
This is mostly to do with the idea of fandom and being a fan of something become something cringeworthy, which bled down to the "hardcore" types who make it into an identity of sorts.

Maybe in some hardcore gamer circles. Most of my HS nerd friends still game on pc but I think I am the only one that owns a switch. Only bought it because it was hackable though

I havent seen a pro Miyamoto opinion in possibly decades. If he's brought up it's always as the "muh Paper Mario" / Mario mandate boogeyman, gimmick obsession or being anti-plot (Zelda, Mario Galaxy).
