Did you like Human Revolution and Mankind Divided? Are they worthy sequels to OG Deus Ex? What could have they done better? Did the introduce any mechanics that were an improvement over the original? Personally I really liked the "verbal bosses" and the black and gold aesthetic

Tried HR. Not sure why, it seemed like a lot of it was much more based around empty areas to pad out the game

Like imagine if DX in say the UNATCO headquarters had 30 rooms but only like 5 of them were of any interaction

It's a bit like that too in the city area you're in, very big and sprawled out but very little content overall

I think the biggest issue is that due to it being a prequel, they were kinda fucked in what they could write and the writers just didn't have )or can't) put in a lot of back story like in DX and how it was done

I just picked up Mankind Decided but haven't launched it yet. I hear good things then the game suddenly drops off a cliff cause it had a scrapped sequel. Human Revolution was enjoyable. I liked it more then Invisible War. To play. I should be clear I like Invisible Wars setting better then HR but playing Invisible Wars just sucks. The levels suck. The weapons suck. The augs suck.

HR was good but the ending felt ham fisted
MD was fun but the story was even worse and the ending was a big nothingburger, nothing gets resolved
Play for the gameplay only, don't expect the story to satisfy in any way.

P.S. what the fuck was Breach? looked like complete garbage

Yes
>Are they worthy sequels to OG Deus Ex?
Nope, Prey (2017) is the closest we've got as far as game design goes
>What could have they done better?
Not be tied to the Deus Ex brand. They clearly didn't want to make a Deus Ex game and shouldn't have been forced to.
>Did the introduce any mechanics that were an improvement over the original?
Nope, but that's fine because the design intent was different. However, to give credit where it's due, Prague might be the best hub in the entire franchise.

I liked the aesthetics and the streamlined game design but they suffer from the same problems that all ps360 era games had: catering to the lowest common denominator, resulting in a limited scope compared to if they were PC-only games.

there's some different dialogue based on your actions in an early mission, then there's some different outcomes in side quests. otherwise no difference, so basically the same as the original.

for one GET RID OF THE STORY/CUTSCENE OBSESSION
I ghosted the whole fucking area and this retard Adam just walk and face the boss and show himself like the brainless subhuman retard that he is. Like why did I bother I'm doing stealth if at the end he still going to show his ugly mug to the boss? god, I fucking hate this retard I'm so happy he got cucked and died.

Most of the QoL like takedowns (animation need to be shortened, dear god it's like looking at an anime that tries too hard to be cool) are nice I suppose, but nothing groundbreaking

>Did you like Human Revolution and Mankind Divided?
Yes.
>Are they worthy sequels to OG Deus Ex?
I think so, though with the major caveat that they're actually pretty different in terms of emphasis. Even Mankind Divided is more of a stealth game than the original Deus Ex.

I'm not that in love with the stories in either of the new Deus Ex games, but to be honest I don't care that much about the plot in the original game either; a lot of the writing is a little sloppy. It works for the game, though.

>Did you like Human Revolution and Mankind Divided?
I thought they were good.
>Are they worthy sequels to OG Deus Ex?
I'd say so.
>What could have they done better?
more of an emphasis on open-ended gameplay. this game is something similar to a bioware rpg or something in terms of the way quests are structured. it's less "immersive sim" and more of a binary "you can take option A or option B" without any emergent gameplay opportunities.
>Did they introduce any mechanics that were an improvement over the original?
generally, the gunplay and abilities are a lot better to use. cover based stealth is also functional if not a tad ridiculous but miles better than what was in the first two games.

so, yeah. this game is bioware rpg pasted onto a MGS stealth action derivative. it works but the first game especially was about emergent gameplay, abusing the game's mechanics to break the game, that sort of thing.

in terms of the story, there's nothing they could have done to rival the original, and I personally don't like the focus on "augs" vs "naturals" but it's written well enough I suppose.
