Rough

Less rough, but has some odd design. Still enjoyable enough, you just might get worn out before you get to the actual game
>3
Relatively short, but it finds its footing with the gameplay between the balances of the different aspects and the surprising complexities of the mechanics.. Good. Generally regarded as having the best available selection of girls and the one /v/ typically recommends the most.

Takes all the gameplay that was established and polished and puts it to a fuck ton of content, encouraging use of said mechanical complexities. Great care was put into this game. So much that the company died after it released. Very good overall

Takes all the gameplay that was established and polished and fucks it up
>Frontier
I'm told it's on par with 3 at least, haven't played it myself.
>Tides of Destiny/Oceans
Spinoff with some different gameplay. It simplifies the farming and crafting to focus on the combat. Despite mediocre gameplay, the setting and cast are pretty comfy, my personal favorite of those areas. If you like the other games, give it a try, but it's not something I would exactly recommend on its own.
>Guardians of Azuma
Rather similar to the above, but instead of a focus on combat (though there is still some), it's more so on new town building/management and socialization features. I have a host of complaints about it on the whole, but I still played it for 100 hours. Characters are charming, and the town stuff is fun, so it's another fine spinoff.
