that epilogue made no sense, after YEARS they were barely acting like they were on their first week after their diploma. they were second years of hero school at the end of the battle, they still had like 2 or 3 more years to go before going pro. But none of that mattered in their life at all.

For me the biggest problem with Deku was how, apart from his in-the-moment "heroic recklessness" (more like suicidal recklessness) that made All Might decide to give him his quirk, the motherfucker ended the series the same way he started it: a passive little bitch with no motivation to pursue his dreams without being promised success.
He started the series being gifted a Quirk from the heavens by All Might himself, and only after that did he even bother training his body despite desperately wanting to be a hero. It's understandable at that point since he's a bullied kid who's been told time and time again that he's worthless. But then he ends the series BY BEING A PASSIVE LITTLE BITCH AGAIN UNTIL ALL MIGHT GIFTS HIM A SUPER SUIT SO HE CAN CONTINUE BEING A HERO. Hori COULD have ended the series with him approaching Mei and offering to be a guinea pig if it meant he could keep doing heroics, or something like that to show that he had grown and was willing to show initiative, but he didn't. Deku basically didn't change by the end, effectively doing what he'd always done after the intro the series in trying to help someone when he thinks they need it. He got the job he preferred after losing his Quirk, etc etc. It's easy to underestimate how far the character had come. But the depiction is also just dogshit and it's too easy to see it as Deku shitting the bed and losing his spine all over again.
