Knack 1 was actually decent, it reminds me of old PS2 platformers. It's a bit shitty but in a comfy mindless fun sorta way. Combat can actually get a bit intense trying to weave in attacks when just one or two hits can kill you. Plus the particle effects of Giant Knack were pretty cool when played on PS5 where it doesn't drop to near single digit fps like PS4.

Mouthwashing was great. Top-notch writing, a compelling story told in an unique way, excellent sound design, and a fantastic PSX-esque artstyle. It's a bit short, but tightly paced, replayable, with a ton of layers to peel back that keeps you thinking long after you finish. One of the best games I've played in a while.

I definitely had way more fun with Knack, like not even close.

The worst games out of those I beat this year are Mother 1, Miside, Knack 2, Zelda 2, and Undertale. And out of those, the worst is easily Mother or Undertale.

I've been gaming regularly basically my whole life, but there was long stints of years where I would just play multiplayer. I'm just mostly trying to stick to classics for my backlog to try to fill in those blind spots. Many of these I have played in the past, just never actually beat.

Mouthwashing is an extremely dense, well-written story with a lot of attention to small details that you will miss your first time through.

Undertale just bored me to tears. The jokes became stale and predictable after 10 minutes, and the bullet hell gameplay is at best mildly entertaining, but it's so shallow and mindless outside of a few genocide encounters. You think I want to replay the entire game just for a couple different flavor texts and a couple fights that actually pose any challenge? It's not even fun or well-designed, it's just 'here's a bunch of nonsensical patterns and they all do a shitload of damage so just memorize every single attack'
