Spec Ops: The Line is probably unpopular for a reason
I'm not talking about the dark lore of the game, the shocking scenes or something else. I'm talking about the gameplay. I rebeat this game a lot of times, and holy shit, I still hate the controls here. It's fucking nasty. The only thing I love about these controls are the shooting physics, but nothing else. I'm sure that if Yager made better controls, this game wouldn't be that unpopular.

The punchline to this joke is that the only way to beat the game is to not play it.

Some people can't understand that soldiers aren't heroes and just following orders is not an excuse.

I remember having to download an encryption tool to decrypt some settings file, just to change a 1 into a 0 then reencrypting the file just to turn off the fucking mouse acceleration
I am glad this game bombed and killed the studio, what a fucking cunt move for no reason

The game really would have been better served if it played like a lite milsim rather than discount Gears. The disconnect between the surreal environment and the realistic combat would have been really good.

Undertale rendered this entire game's message obsolete

Nothing except shitty controls. Mouse sensitivity settings, shitty sprinting and etc.

Played it for the first time a week ago. Thought their Dubai was really cool and I really like the fantastical direction they went with it. Mad Max is the only other game I know that has done something like it. The cover shooting system and controls are ass and obviously designed for a controller but I can't imagine it being much smoother on one. It's one of those examples of something being the first popular example of doing a neat thing in a genre but not doing it the best. It gets lumped in with Bioshock because of the twist which felt really stupid even now. Like the story is kind of generic and not crazy amazing but you get the feeling something interesting is going on and you stay engaged, but that ending just makes it deflate like a balloon.

A theory to this is that the devs intentionally made the controls as frustrating as possible, so that you can be easily irritated and your anger reflect that of walker in the game.

>2001: 9-11 terrorist attack
>whole generation of underage Timmies vent their angst with military themed FPS vidyagaems, turning them into the most popular genre at the time (until 2011)
>2012: Yager beats a dead horse with a stick
>"how can we convey the "kill BAD" message?"
>"why of course with an ironic jab at the FPS military vidya and their target audience! you like these games, buy them and play them? you are a BAD PERSON!"
>go bankrupt

lmao

It's kinda funny that they forget the big name games were already doing the "war bad" thing in their own campaigns.
