The game has trouble getting new players because it's become very complicated and so they made a new card game called Yugioh Rush Duels that's a somewhat dumbed down version of how classic Yugioh was, and made a couple anime series to promote that aimed at younger kids. It got moderate success.

Regular Yugioh has not gotten a full anime in a long time but the game is chugging along. It recently fell out of the top 3 most popular card games in Japan which I don't know if that has happened before in the last 25 years, but card games are much more competitive in general over there with people playing a wider variety of stuff so that's still a very respectable position.
They've started releasing short ONA episodes for the stories within the cards themselves which are actually pretty cool, at least if you're familiar with the characters from the cards, but at 6 minutes per episode it's hard to get too invested.

So it's chugging along same as ever but maybe is starting to stagnate. Hard to make any long term predictions, people have been saying Yugioh is dying for 20 years.

If you only have one piece of interaction you should probably save it for Duo Drive since that adds 2 Ryzeal cards with it's effect and basically every Ryzeal card is a starter that also searches. Droll can also make their turns more low impact but a rank 4 deck only having 1 level 4 in their opener is unlikely at best, so ashing/imperming their first card is negging yourself on average. I'd even argue that if you really only have an imperm you might want to just save it for Deadnader on your turn. If Eclipse Twins aren't added in this next pack then that removes a large amount of their endboard by itself.

Here's a list. Most of the on-engine lineups that had Star Ryzeal from the release date of Ryzeal's second wave of support in the OCG are pretty much identical. Just note that the non-engine options are extremely flexible. You can use it with Sharks, Fiendsmith, Traptrix, board breakers, floodgates, etc.
The deck will probably need Plug-In for now since we don't have Eclipse Twins, and it makes Detonator much more resistant to board breakers.

Now it goes by the standard deck builder sorting system, which at best you can sort them by rarity up to down, or alphabetically, but there's no configuration to revert it to the way it used to be organized. I only ever played the PS2 port of the first one since I never had a PSP. I only remember it being FUCKING SLOW outside of the duels. Also, I'm actually rewatching GX and it's kinda garbage and very formulaic, half an episode of plot contrivance nonsense and then a half episode shitty duel that ends in 3 turns. If I could summon Zeus with Typhon's summon condition I would. But right now I don't have enough gas on the Spright side of the deck. Every game I have to play perfectly because there's little room for error.
