They're just going to wonder why there's all these heavy-handed references to Christianity. So they changed the least subtle ones to other stuff. Mostly ancient Greek.

They didn't just remove the Christianity entirely in places where they were able to just make it more subtle. All the Titans are still named after Deadly Sins or Cardinal Virtues. They're just in different languages now, instead of all being Latin.

I don't see the problem of changing real life names for fantasy ones because Xenoblade 2 is a post civilization world with no older humans left to keep those names. The worst changes for me were holy grail into aegis because there is an actual Malos scene with him destroying a chalice that was representing the holy grail. But I think everyone knows that Amalthus was a blue pope. It wasn't something people wouldn't understand.

The landmass nations are named after the cardinal sins and heavenly virtues, they were the ultimate Blade cores that was taken straight from God's domain by a Deacon that worked for that world's version of the Holy See, and the cores he took were his final cope after not finding God or "Paradise". People have to remember that Logos was the first core to be resonated with and after that he was aligned with Acedia because of his Driver before he went rogue. At best, he was referred to as "the word of God" and at worst "The Eraser" of mankind , not a fucking shield, and not with any Greek theming for that world's reality.

There's really no excuse to change any of this, especially when Tetsuya Takahashi's previous series were steeped in religious theming. It's part of the art in his works.
