Without a doubt this is the best Zelda game. It's actually flawless, iterates on everything from the franchise, innovates the genre, the series peaked here.

I prefer BotW. They spent far too much dev time on the building mechanics that no one asked for.

First one was better, Tears had too much grinding and the past sections were gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.

Ultrahand adds so much to the game. I only find I miss revali's gale, but there's an adequate replacement for that too.

It's a bad game. Shitting light out of your hands six times and telling the same fucking tale every time does not make a fucking plot.

It's an asset flip/master quest comprised solely of fetch quests that took six fucking years to come out instead of one like Majora's Mask. On top of this the shrines are bad and lame and the open-ended puzzle solving aspect devalues the franchise as a whole.

Both games have optional grinding, if you don't like it the good news is it's optional.

Watched my friend play this the other day and it looked pretty lame. So many menus. Falling to your death? Open a menu and eat something to negate death. In middle of combat? Hold up, let me open this menu and select the right weapon for this moment.

Shit is boring and I pity the consoletards that eat this garbage up just because muh open world with a G-Mod ripoff.

why are nintendo games all the same sandbox slop now?

It was the best story when viewed in proper sequence, which takes some intent on the player's part. The characters have emotion, they have character, they have motivation, and they're even voice acted which adds a lot of impact.

BotW and TotK are as OoT is to MM. If you disagree you're disingenuous.

I really dislike the emphasis on building. But the rest is better than in BOTW.
Also it would be better if they hadn’t put stupid outfits in the games. Classic green one is fine. These games reek Reddit sometimes

The menuing is fixed in TotK, it's got the most expedient management system in the franchise, you can hold a button snap through your items and choose what to do with them, all without having to pause.

It's a lot of fun to play, watching is a mixed bag.

Sandboxes are the purest video game there is. You actually get to play around with the mechanics instead of a mother-may-I type of experience most games have. They can be a bit daunting if you lack a creative bone in your body.

It is not. You need Weapon Handles, Weapon Attachments, Vehicle Parts, Materials to upgrade the Battery and Auto-build, Food, various other Items to either throw or attach to Arrows, etc, etc.

botw and totk have the worst story, characters and most of the music from any zelda game, don't you ever compare them to any other 3D zelda again

i liked botw more, totk didn't have the novelty value since it was just the same thing again

It's not a terrible game, but it's just bad. It's bad, bad, bad, bad busywork open world bloat and slop. The plot is also just bad, "it's an allegory for COVID" can only take you so far.

Ultrahand feels like a natural expansion of your exploring. It's satisfying to see an area you can't get to, and to be able to devise a way to pull it off. It's not a whole lot different than obtaining an item in a previous entry, only this time you get to invent the item on the spot.

You're arguing against player expression, and it makes you seem stupid.

BOTW at least is a bit more fun and it's novel, but the BOTW format has already worn thin and it needs to be replaced come next entry.

There's more that can be done with an open world and sandbox design. Considering that this is the natural evolution of the franchise, it's not going anywhere.

Keep the Open World, remove the busywork copy-paste missions, remove the pathetic weapon degradation, make real dungeons with real puzzles that you solve in a linear manner. That's literally it.

certainly none of those were as pure cringe as botw/totk. I don't have a lot of love for zelda writing in general, but botw/totk were so painful as to be taking away from the games as a whole. I was avoiding cutscenes because they were so poorly executed. I think I would view the games much more favorably if they had just cut almost all the story, it's incredible that they managed to do so poorly for them to be a net negative.

If you completely ignore the retarded story and all its continuity problems and all the shit it copied (poorly) from BotW (like introducing a SECOND ancient, technologically advanced, forgotten, civilization or using the memory storytelling device AGAIN or using the entire fucking map all over again....) sure. The powers are better, at least. I could see why someone who didn't play BotW first and only cares about gameplay might like TotK.

I think TotK is a lazy pile of shit and the most disappointing game I've played in the past 10 years, personally.

yeah, the disappointment factor is crazy. Botw was such a huge step forwards in terms of trying new shit with zelda, and not everything worked but it was *exciting* because a bunch of stuff really was pretty cool and the trajectory all of a sudden was really hopeful

then totk came out and they didn't do ANYTHING to fix all of the problems that botw had. There were so many different directions they could have gone in, so many diffrent things they could have improved... and we got fucking NOTHING

seriously depressing stuff
