That's exactly the impression i get, who the hell trusts this walking sim studio to deliver on anything when they messed up Amnesia all those years ago?

Aren't fa/tg/uys saying V5 sucks? You can't make a good game with a bad system.

I know nothing about the current game, but that's how it's gonna go.

Even the devs themselves are showing zeeo confidence in this game. Thats a huge redflag

No, no, no, no, it's V:TM: AMfP. The first colon is important!

Nah, see, it's not actually written by the guy who wrote A Machine for Pigs. It's written by the guy who wrote Rebirth

I liked a machine for pigs, but I don't know if I'd like a machine for pigs like vtm game

M3vhanically it's nothing like AMFP. It's an open world action RPG like Dishonored meets Deue Ex meets that Arkane game where you kick everyone. But it's almost certainly got similar story themes.

come on now.
it excels in quite a few areas, but let's not oversell things here

Rebirth was well-written. Most of the Amnesia games (and especially SOMA) are well-written, actually. It's the horror and mechanics where they falter. A fucking RPG is both writing quality and mechanics, it's exponentially more complex than a horror game and there's no way that they're not going to fuck this up. VTMB had the people behind fucking Arcanum working on it, and they made it with a shitty, early, constantly-updating version of Source and a box of scraps. It's still a classic.

Not because of its mechanics, though. Mechanically VTMB1 sucks.

Great game. Suck my dick.

>>717254459
Combat, yeah. In terms of fundamental character building it's fucking great. Especially when you learn how gimped certain races ended up being because they didn't have enough time. Nosferatu is an amazing idea, and those fuckers weren't even playtested and launched with gamebreaking bugs, because the playtesters thought they were ugly. Yes, this actually happened. That's how big a shitshow the dev cycle for VTMB was.

Not giving XPs for killing things alone sets it far above the average. By "mechanically" you mean "shootan ain't Call of Modern Honor" and "fightan ain't spectacle fighter of the week" (at best, I expect ackchyuallies that will make me regret writing the post and weep quietly).

V5 is very divisive, depending on your player profile. Some people loathe the edition. A lot of people actually like one thing or another from it, but none of us can agree on which part is good and which is bad.
That said, given how little systemic influence from V5 there is if we're to believewhat has been shown of Bloodlines 2, it shouldn't matter much.

I think WoD should stay in 90s. 1990s are a great historical setting. Pre-smartphone world was more fit for masquerade concepts. Modern day ghouls and thin bloods would out themselves in seconds.

The general answer to the panopticon argument is the inherent issue of the current signal-to-noise ratio: people can and will believe anything, but good luck gaining enough traction to make any group big enough to act on those disparate beliefs.
Add vampires taking key control points in the data-flow and the current world can offer just enough of a canva for masquerade suspension of disbelief.
I have no strong opinion on the mater myself, I never found the masquerade particularly believable. It's just a great, convenient narrative device.

There's that quote of Paradox 'sdeputy CEO going the rounds ("God willing" and all that...), but I don't think I've ever seen the devs themselves diss on the game.
And I've been following things obsessively.
Anonymous No.717258018
even paradox are done with it
hope they sell the IP when it flops and someone competent buys it, instead of a company sitting on the IP for years and doing fucking nothing with it

They literally wouldn't though. There'd basically no way to prove someone was a "real vampire" and not just your average goth chick, S&M pervert, or terminally online schizo if they did exist. If there happens to be video footage of them doing something absolutely inhuman, there's always the excuse of CGI/AI/etc.

I don't believe in ghosts, you'd have to be a tard to, but I do like to entertain the idea. Especially because of the signal/noise ratio. If someone really were able to capture the "paranormal" on video, would anyone believe them? I fucking wouldn't.

UI don't kn ow I wuuld trust Larian with VtM. Their writing for RPGs very much make you feel around the table passing on chips to the other player, so to speak.
Works more or less for D&D. I'd have a harder time with a WoD game.
