>>717277508I keep getting reminded of FFX every 2 hours as I continue in this game so I find your question interesting.
>how the other soldiers stay actively immersed in war against the other side for so long without it.In FFX, everyone is trained to believe Sin is some sort of divine punishment. And that the only way to make it go away forever is for everyone to be spiritually clean. It's such a simple manipulation tactic because it invades every part of these people's lives. Why do so few people try other ways to destroy Sin? Because that would imply you don't believe in the Pilgrimages, therefore it's YOUR fault Sin comes back. Why the racism towards the Al Bhed? Because they're seeking ways to destroy Sin outside the Pilgrimages therefore it's THEIR fault Sin always comes back. When in reality, Sin's existence has nothing to do with faith and never did. But because these people have been indoctrinated for so long, they'll look for excuses for why Yevon was right actually, even if there isn't a single priest present. It's why when Tidus asks question, normal people are stunned into silence, while the most devout will scream scripture at you until you get too exhausted to fight back. But here's the thing: this didn't happen in a vacuum. At the end of the day, for 1000 years, Yevon is the only one who displayed the ability to at least harm Sin. No one else can get close. So regular people are willing to put more stock into what Yevon says rather than the Al Bhed or the Crusaders who just admit they don't know how to kill Sin.
I understand that the XC3 soldiers were bred for war and nothing else. But the Flame Clocks being destroyed shouldn't just undo the bias and hatred these people felt before. When Ethel was being controlled, she didn't just forget Noah. Rather her perception of Noah was changed so that she can't recognize him. She still cares for Noah even when she's brainwashed. By that same token, shouldn't the bias against the enemy army remain too?
