Is there any Atelier game that's NOT completely trivialized by its alchemy system? It drives me nuts that they provide these in-depth systems to go full autism and create OP gear/items, but the difficulty isn't designed for it so you just steamroll the entire rest of the game. Agatha is the head Guardian, the one who was trying to keep the trio out of trouble, I think Ryza called her onee-san, so it wasn’t a completely negative relationship. Kilo saved Bos when he went to the Underworld, but she just stayed there the whole time after. Romy was a merchant girl with a few quests. She seemed oddly prominent, but didn’t feel like she added that much, she was basically just a sidequest character.

You don't need to do alchemy at all to clear the game and if you do you can oneshot everything, and if you do you don't need to actually do it yourself and can just hit an auto button to max everything. There's no time limits so you functionally have unlimited materials so there's no reason to not just hit the auto button and jam all the best shit in to make a bomb that will instantly kill the final boss.

It's not that Alchemy trivializes the rest of the game so much as the Alchemy itself was trivial in a game that itself was already trivial. You don't have to break the Alchemy since it's already broken. Literally just put items in all the slots, and you can infinitely duplicate your best materals. You could even break it further via reforge stacking for exponential stat gains (or was that patched at some point?).

Usually there's at least a post game that warrants needing such powerful gear, but Yumia lacks any kind of post game content. And in the time limit games it's relevant since making gear strong enough to skip making the next tier entirely saves you a lot of time for other activities.

I started playing Rorona again recently. The very early game like the first 2 times you go out exploring is actually pretty tough. The turn based combat requires you to target enemies efficiently to stop them from getting extra turns. Then it immediately becomes a nothingburger once you get your first decent equipment.
