the hardest game to beat (by my own personal experience) was Resident Evil Code Veronica X. I had to play it multiple times, reach dead ends, and get stuck as far as the final boss before abandoning it out of frustration for years. But I did beat it eventually, just last year. Took me over 2 decades.

GoW 2018 on the hardest difficulty. Had to put it down after an hour and go back to Elden Ring. I hate shoulder cam anyway and I'll never play that shitty game again.
