The Belf starting zone shows most of the belves as being socialite airheads more interested in partying and getting drunk and pretending their kingdom hasn't half collapsed around them whilst authoritarian magisters magisters use mind control to stop protesting nobles and merchants.
Like they had this beautiful enchanted forest of splendour and living a lavish luxurious life and Arthas basically fucked their entire way of life upside down.
It makes sense that the Blood Elf men are portrayed as haughty "Look at how much power I have" types reminiscent of their previous "think highly of themselves" stature, bearing in mind these are descendants of the highborne that all thought themselves better than that night elves, a race that already thought themselves better than every other race.
It then follows suit that they'd portray belf women from this culture as being vain, clinging to their strong man, status obsessed etc. basically a reflection of vapid hollywood wives.
Of course that doesn't make them sound very STRONGWOMAN so it had to go
