Retroarch
The idea is nice but how the hell did they fuck up the UX/UI so badly.
Retroarch must have some of the most utilitarian UI/UX design out there to the point where it straight up does not function.
Not to mention it doesn't integrate with anything. You can't even copy paste some text in the settings like passwords for my local file server(save files)
You instead need to open up a configuration file(for some reason it saves everything in a configuration file) that doesn't update automatically and needs to be manually saved from a different menu entry from everything else.

>inb4 have you tried xmb.
Have you tried REAL XMB? as in a PSP or a PS3?
It functions completely differently to the broken piece of shit skin Retroarch has.
And it continues to have all the same fundamental issues all the issues all other retroarch UI skins have.

Because it's not meant for PC use

I just use youtube tutorials to set it up and then forget it outside of the convenient features such as savestate and loadstate and undo one or the other when I accidentally use them at the wrong time.

Until you need to set up basic functionality like a turbo button and have to go through 10 controller related menus which are located in different submenus with no logic to it whatsoever (half of those menus are literally the same but copied in different places for a joke)

It's buggy as fuck and I'm tired of idiots who recommend it.
1. Controller config is not saved unless you restart the emu BEFORE launching a game. So if you change controller settings while playing a game, those changes are lost on next session.
2. 60fps ps1 games drop to unstable 60/30fps in fullscreen, and messing around with display settings doesn't fix it.
3. Emu can randomly delete your save files and savestates. Happened to me playing a long jrpg.
Honestly fuck Retroarch. Inb4 some pedantic smartazz goes "uhh acculi it's a frontend, not emu".

Because you're bad and don't know how to use configuration files, overrides and core options. All shit I figured out ezpz.

It's pretty awesome. I pretty much just play homebrew games on it and sometimes romhacks like the Sealed Palace.
I think the Mupen64 core is broken though because the audio crackles no matter what the settings
