>>717281389You get modification options for your skills from leveling them up. You get up to 5 separate mods per active skill. You get 1 mod point per level until level 3, then 1 every two levels. Some ability mods cost 2 points. Some require a companion mod to function, some are incompatible with others.
You also level up your basic melee attack now, because it's also considered a "skill." As such it also has the same modification system. Same for your temporary barrier shield, and your dodge skill.
Passives have mods, too. Two choices per passive, usually out of 3-4 options.
All the Masteries synergize with one another very well. A lot of thought was put into dual-classing this time around, since it was added from the start, rather than just tacked on with an expansion pack.
Your skill points are segregated into three types:
Divinity Points which are used only to add more levels to a mastery. Unlike TQ1 there are no stat bonuses from doing so, but that may change later on.
Active Points: These are for your active skills, and auras.
Passive Points: These are for your passives.
You get 1 DP, 2 AP, and 2 PP per level. But you also are granted these points from completing quests or absorbing Titan Ichor.
